Buru the Gorger — Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj Boss Guide

Buru the Gorger — the boss you kill with his own eggs

Buru the Gorger is the fourth boss of the Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj (AQ20) in WoW Classic 1.12.1. It is the one encounter in the raid where "tank holds, DPS hits" simply does not apply. Buru cannot be tanked — he fixates on a random player and chases them relentlessly. Damage dealt directly to him is heavily reduced while qiraji eggs remain in the room, and those eggs are your real weapon.

On WoW Classic X5 the fight stays purely mechanical: faster rates give you gear sooner, but they do not remove the need for clean kiting.

Step-by-step tactics

1. Setup. Mark every egg before the pull and agree on the order — the raid works around the room clockwise from the entrance. 2. Pull. Buru instantly fixates a random player. That player calls it out and leads the boss to the first egg. 3. Break the egg. All DPS switch to the egg, not the boss. When the egg dies next to Buru, he takes the explosion. 4. Clear the hatchling. The tank grabs the hatchling, melee burn it in seconds. 5. Fixation swap. The fixate jumps to another player periodically — the new carrier immediately walks the boss to the next egg. 6. Execute phase. With every egg gone Buru loses his damage reduction: the whole raid burns him down while healers keep the kiter alive.

Совет

The classic wipe reason is hitting the boss instead of the eggs. Put a raid marker on the target egg and call it out — break exactly one egg at a time, with the boss standing next to it.

WoW Classic X5 tips

1. On x5 your raid hits level 60 fast and enters AQ20 in dungeon gear — enough, as long as the kiting is clean. 2. Assign 2–3 backup kiters: if the fixated player dies, the next one picks the boss up without a pause. 3. Movement speed matters — a Rogue with Sprint or a Druid in cat form kites far more comfortably than a plate wearer. 4. Creeping Plague stacks over time: the longer the fight, the harder it is on healers. Keep the egg rhythm going. 5. Always loot the Scarab Coffer Key — the coffers alone pay for the run.

FAQ

Why does Buru take almost no damage?

While eggs remain in the room Buru takes heavily reduced damage. Your damage source is the egg explosions: lure the boss next to an egg and kill the egg. Direct DPS only becomes efficient once every egg is gone.

How does Buru's fixation work?

Buru picks a random player and chases only that player, ignoring the threat table. A tank cannot hold him — the fixated player must kite the boss to the next egg while the raid breaks it.

How many players do we need on x5?

AQ20 is designed for 20 players, but on x5 rates with Molten Core gear a disciplined group clears Buru with 12–15 players.
