Ayamiss the Hunter — Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj Boss Guide

Ayamiss the Hunter — a fight on two fronts

Ayamiss the Hunter is the fifth boss of the Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj (AQ20) in WoW Classic 1.12.1. The encounter is unusual because the raid physically splits: the main group works the boss in the hall while a second squad guards the sacrificial altar and rescues players dragged there. If either group slips, deaths cascade.

On WoW Classic X5 this is an excellent rehearsal for AQ40 — the raid learns to hold two points of focus at once.

Step-by-step tactics

1. Split up. Before the pull send the altar squad into position: 2–3 ranged, 1 healer, ideally a Rogue for fast finishes. 2. Phase 1. The main group damages from range. Melee help clear larvae or wait for the landing. 3. Rescues. The moment a paralyze is called, the altar squad cuts down the larvae around the victim and the healer keeps them alive until it expires. 4. Landing. At ~70% she lands; the tank pins her against a wall, melee engage, ranged reposition behind her. 5. Phase 2. Maintain the larvae AoE rotation — a dozen of them will reach the main raid if ignored. 6. Execute. From 20% raise healing output; the fight is long and healers are low on mana by then.

Совет

Appoint an "altar caller" who announces who got dragged and makes sure a living healer is always at the altar. Without that role the rescue squad is consistently late.

WoW Classic X5 tips

1. On x5 Hunters and Mages gear up quickly — they carry phase one. 2. The altar squad must be self-sufficient: own healer, own AoE, own accountability. 3. Paralyze cannot be dispelled normally — do not waste mana on it, clear larvae faster. 4. Qiraji Executioner is a strong pre-BiS two-hander for Fury Warriors; well-geared raids still farm AQ20 for it. 5. Mark the larvae at the altar — without markers the rescue squad splits its damage.

FAQ

Why is Ayamiss immune to melee at first?

During phase one Ayamiss flies above the room and is physically out of melee range. Only ranged damage and casters hurt her until roughly 70% health, when she lands.

What do we do about players dragged to the altar?

Paralyzed players are carried to the sacrificial altar where Hive'Zara Larvae eat them. Station a dedicated squad of 3–5 players at the altar to clear larvae and rescue the victims.

Do we need nature resistance for Ayamiss?

It is not mandatory, but poison and stinger spray hit the whole raid. A few nature resistance pieces on melee noticeably ease the healing load.
