Auctioneer: the auction house and pricing in WoW Classic x5
Vanilla WoW Classic 1.12 · x5 realm · wowx5.ruAuctioneer is a powerful auction-house addon for WoW Classic. It scans listings, builds a price history and shows an item's real value right in the tooltip. It is the go-to tool for players who make gold by trading.
What Auctioneer does
The addon turns the auction house from chaos into a readable market:
- Item appraisal — adds the average market price to the tooltip
- Bargain hunting — a search module finds underpriced items to flip
- Price history — track the value of materials and consumables
- Selling help — suggests a fair price when you post your own auctions
Install and first scan
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Download Auctioneer for 1.12.1 and extract into Interface/AddOns/ |
| 2 | Enable every module of the package in the AddOns menu |
| 3 | Walk to an auctioneer, open the auction house |
| 4 | Click Scan — wait for the full scan to finish |
The first scan is mandatory: without a database Auctioneer cannot appraise items. Re-scan once a day to keep prices current.
Making gold by flipping
After a scan open the Search tab and pick the underpriced-listings module. The addon lists items posted below market value — buy them and resell higher.
- Focus on high-demand materials: herbs, ore, cloth, consumables
- Factor in the auction cut when you calculate profit
- On x5 rates raid consumables are always in demand — a steady market
Auctioneer and the x5 economy
An x5 realm speeds up levelling, so demand for reagents and consumables is high. Pair Auctioneer with our gold guide and the basic auction house guide.
Auctioneer only analyses the market — you make every trade by hand. No automation: this complies with WowX5's fair-play rules.

FAQ
How do I run my first scan?
Walk up to an auctioneer, open the auction window and click Scan (or type /auctioneer scan). A full scan takes 1-3 minutes and fills the price database.
Auctioneer lags during a scan — is that normal?
Yes, a full scan briefly loads the client while it processes thousands of listings. Scan once a day, then use the cached database.
What do the tooltip price colours mean?
Auctioneer compares a listing to the database average: green means cheap (worth buying), red means expensive. It is a flipping hint.
Is Auctioneer allowed on WowX5?
Yes. It is a legitimate market-analysis addon; it does not automate purchases or break the rules. Auto-buying/botting is banned, manual analysis is not.
