Boosting is a way to level a character quickly: a strong hero kills every mob in a dungeon while a weak alt nearby soaks the experience. It is a popular alternative to normal zone leveling: a single run can grant several levels for almost no effort.
Kill experience is only shared if the alt is near the booster. Stand at the edge of the room where the pack is gathered, but do not run ahead into the blows — otherwise you risk dying before the mage roots the crowd.
How boosting works
The scheme is simple: a high-level character (most often a mage) enters a dungeon with a low-level alt. The booster gathers mobs into a cluster and kills them with AoE spells while the alt stays close and earns a share of experience for every enemy killed.
Because dungeon mobs are denser and give more experience than outdoor ones, an hour of boosting earns as much as days of normal leveling. On top of that, bosses and elites drop solid loot and money.
Best boosting dungeons
The ideal boost dungeon has dense melee packs and no fleeing casters:

Who can boost
The best booster is the mage: it gathers and holds the pack with Frost Nova, then burns it down. Partial boosters include:
- The paladin holds the crowd and self-heals but kills slower.
- The druid and warrior can pull packs but are slower without strong AoE.
If you have no leveled character, a boost is often bought from other players for gold — a service of the in-game economy.
Safety and rules
Boosting is profitable but has pitfalls:
1. Do not run ahead. The alt must be near the booster but not under the blows of an uncaught pack. 2. Mind the level gap. Too large a level difference cuts experience — keep the alt in a sensible range for the dungeon. 3. Play fair. A boost by a live player is a 'white' mechanic. Using bots and third-party software is forbidden by server rules.
