WoW Classic Auction House: Where to Find It, How to Buy and Sell

Where the auction house is

All faction auction houses on one side are linked: an auction posted in Stormwind is visible in Ironforge. Neutral auction houses are shared by Alliance and Horde — they are the only way to pass an item to the other faction, but the cut is higher.
How to buy an item
- Talk to an auctioneer and open the Browse tab.
- Type the item name or pick a category on the left; you can set level, rarity and the Usable Items checkbox.
- Click Search and sort the results by price.
- Click Buyout to take the auction at once, or Bid to join the bidding.
Your bids are listed on the Bids tab. If you are outbid, your money comes back by mail. Items you buy out or win also arrive by mail — collect them at the nearest mailbox.
How to post an auction
- Open the Auctions tab.
- Drag the item into the slot. To sell part of a stack, split it first (Shift + click the stack in your bag).
- Set the starting bid — the minimum bidding price.
- Set the buyout price — the price for an instant purchase.
- Choose the duration: 2, 8 or 24 hours.
- Click Create Auction — the deposit is taken from your money.
In 1.12.1 each auction is one item or one stack: there is no bulk posting as in later expansions. Addons such as Aux speed this up.

If an auction does not sell or you cancel it, the deposit is lost and the item returns by mail. The longer the duration, the higher the deposit.
Useful addons
The built-in auction interface in 1.12.1 is minimal. The Aux addon adds price history, fast search, posting at market price and value hints in item tooltips.

Alliance auction houses are in Stormwind (Trade District), Ironforge and Darnassus, Horde ones in Orgrimmar, Undercity and Thunder Bluff. Neutral auction houses shared by both factions stand in the goblin towns of Booty Bay, Gadgetzan and Everlook.
