What is world PvP
Unlike instanced BGs, world PvP happens right in Azeroth’s open zones. It is unstructured: fights flare up at contested points, resources, dungeon entrances and leveling routes. Kills feed the shared rank grind just like BGs.
Legendary conflict spots
Tarren Mill vs Southshore (Hillsbrad)
The most iconic Vanilla world PvP spot. Horde holds Tarren Mill, Alliance holds Southshore; between them is endless war. Mass fights of 40+ players per side, for hours.
Eastern Plaguelands towers
Four capturable towers grant a zone-wide faction buff. Controlling them is a constant reason to skirmish.
Silithus
A late zone with resources (Silithyst) and an open PvP turn-in event — contested ground before AQ content.
Raid and dungeon entrances
Ambushes at MC/BWL/ONY portals, at Stratholme/Scarlet entrances — the classic "intercept" of enemy raids.

Capital raids
Organized groups storm Stormwind, Orgrimmar, Darnassus or Undercity to kill the enemy faction leader (King Varian/Thrall etc.). It’s pure glory and lots of HK, but needs dozens of players and coordination against NPC guards.
A capital raid is a great source of mass honor and fun on x5. Gather 40 players, enter with world buffs and focus the leader, ignoring guards where possible.
How not to get ganked
In contested territory the enemy hunts loners. Leveling in dangerous zones (Stranglethorn, Hillsbrad, Plaguelands), stay alert.
- Stick in a group in contested zones.
- Use invisibility, free action and speed potions to escape (see consumables).
- Rogues and druids can stealth away; mages blink and vanish.
- Don’t be greedy: sometimes leaving a fight is cheaper than dying and losing time.
