A twink is a character deliberately stuck at a set level and geared to the maximum for its battleground range. A classic level-19 twink tears through newcomers in Warsong Gulch because it has the best items, enchants and a thought-out build that ordinary players in the bracket lack.
To stay in your bracket, turn off experience gain if the server supports it, or strictly avoid quests and mob kills. One extra level and the twink jumps into the next bracket where its advantage is wiped out.
What a twink is
Twinking is about dominating a specific level range. The player halts leveling (at 19, say) and invests in the character as if it were a capped hero: gathering the best gear, applying expensive enchants, picking ideal talents and consumables.
As a result, in battlegrounds the twink is head and shoulders above peers who are simply leveling through. It is a pastime for those who love PvP and collecting the best low-level gear.

Twink gear comes from four sources:
1. Blue dungeon items for the bracket level — for example from the Deadmines for the 10-19 bracket. 2. Crafted items from blacksmiths, leatherworkers and tailors. 3. Quest rewards with strong stats at low level. 4. Enchants — here twinks do not save money: weapon, armor and even cloak get the best possible enchants.
Assembling a full set usually needs a leveled character supplying the twink with gold and materials.
Battleground tactics
A good twink is not only gear but understanding its role:
- Damage (rogue, hunter, warrior) focuses the enemy flag carrier and healers.
- Healing (priest, druid, paladin) keeps your flag carrier alive, which often decides the match in Warsong.
- Control — stuns and slows stop the enemy from carrying the flag.
A coordinated twink team with a healer is nearly unbeatable against ordinary players, so they are often grouped into a dedicated party.
