WoW Classic professions
WoW Classic (Vanilla 1.12.1) professions: the most profitable pairs, how to level a craft quickly and how much gold each profession earns on the x5 realm.
How professions work in Vanilla
A character can keep two primary professions plus all secondary ones (Cooking, First Aid, Fishing). Primary professions are either gathering (Mining, Herbalism, Skinning) or crafting (Blacksmithing, Enchanting, Engineering, etc.).
Best profession pairs
- Mining + Blacksmithing — weapons and armor for warriors/paladins, steady sales.
- Herbalism + Alchemy — potions, elixirs and transmutes; top income on raid consumables.
- Skinning + Leatherworking — armor for druids/hunters/shamans and rogues.
- Mining + Engineering — gadgets, bombs, scopes; strong in PvP.
- Enchanting + Tailoring — enchants and bags; disenchant surplus loot.
Gold-focused pairs
If your goal is income, take two gathering professions (Mining + Herbalism) while leveling: ore and herbs always sell on the auction house. Later you can swap one for a crafting profession for your class.
Secondary professions
- First Aid — bandages, key for PvP and solo.
- Cooking — buff food for raids (stamina, spirit, damage).
- Fishing — rare ingredients and cooking materials.
FAQ
Which professions make the most gold?
Consistently Alchemy (raid consumables) and any gathering profession (ore, herbs, leather). Early on, two gathering professions are the most profitable.
Can I change a profession?
Yes, but dropping a profession resets its progress and you must level it from scratch. Change carefully.
