Three Rules of Efficient Farming

  1. Gathering professions are passive income. Even during combat farming, pick up ore and herbs. Mining + Herbalism doubles the yield of every route.
  2. Farm for your auction's demand. Study the week's prices: whatever is expensive on your realm is what you should farm. Raid consumables (see raid consumables) are always in demand.
  3. Class matters. Druid (speed + gathering), Hunter (solo elites), Mage (AOE humanoid farm) are the best farmers. More in the gold farming guide.

Where to Go at Level 60

The top level-60 farming zones are Silithus, Eastern and Western Plaguelands, Un'Goro Crater, Winterspring and Burning Steppes. That's where high-level herbs, rich thorium veins, elite beasts for thick/rugged leather and runecloth humanoids concentrate. Combine material farming with reputation farming — many zones offer both at once.
