There is no separate purchasable "riding skill" like in the expansions — you only need level 60 and gold. You buy the epic mount from the same place as the basic one: your racial vendor (Alliance / Horde).
The reputation discount
The epic mount's price drops as your reputation with your race's capital rises:
- Honored — a small discount.
- Exalted — the maximum discount.
If you're grinding Exalted for a cross-racial mount, the discount carries over to it too.
Where to get ~1000 gold
The real barrier isn't level, it's gold. Ways to earn it:
1. Farming elite mobs and dungeons — steady income and a chance at rare items. 2. Professions — selling ore, herbs, leather and crafted goods on the auction house. 3. Dailies and reputation quests — alongside reputation farming. 4. Raid loot and consumables for sale.
