Benediction / Anathema
Vanilla WoW Classic 1.12 · x5 realm · wowx5.ruBenediction (and its shadow form Anathema) is the iconic priest staff of WoW Vanilla, obtained through a class quest chain. For many players it is the most recognisable priest item in Classic.
Two forms of one staff
The item's uniqueness is its two forms. Benediction boosts healing and suits a healer priest, while Anathema is tuned for shadow damage. The player switches forms to adapt the staff to their role in a given fight.

Quest chain: step by step
The quest "Balance of Light and Shadow" is a class quest available only to priests.
Step 1: Eye of Divinity
The key item is the Eye of Divinity, dropping from Majordomo Executus in Molten Core. It is a guaranteed priest drop but requires clearing MC to Majordomo.
Step 2: Complete the chain
With the Eye of Divinity the priest completes a chain of trials, receiving an unenchanted staff that then becomes Benediction/Anathema.
| Stage | Requirement | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Eye | Eye of Divinity | Majordomo (MC) |
| Ritual | Splinter of Nordrassil | quest chain |
| Result | Benediction | quest reward |
On x5 access to Majordomo is faster thanks to quick MC clears. Pick up the quest early so the Eye of Divinity does not sit idle in your bag.
Who needs Benediction
Benediction is a must-have goal for almost any raid priest: the flexibility of light and shadow in one staff makes it incredibly convenient. Discipline/Holy use Benediction for healing, Shadow uses Anathema for damage.
Obtaining tactics on x5
The quest's main bottleneck is the Eye of Divinity from Majordomo, so pick up the class chain early and head into Molten Core with your raid. On an x5 server access to Majordomo is faster, and priests get the Eye noticeably sooner than on classic realms.
Completion tips:
- Keep the quest active before the MC run — the Eye of Divinity then goes straight to use instead of sitting in your bag.
- Master the Benediction to Anathema swap: keep Benediction for healing fights, and switch to Anathema when the raid needs extra damage.
- For a Shadow priest, Anathema is an important source of shadow damage in early raids, so it is worth finishing the chain as early as possible.
Summary
Benediction is the priest's signature item in Classic. The flexibility of two forms, strong stats and a memorable quest make this staff a must-have goal for almost every raid priest, regardless of spec.
