Majordomo Executus: Strategy, Loot and Tips for WoW x5
Vanilla WoW Classic 1.12 · x5 realm · wowx5.ruWho Is Majordomo Executus
Majordomo Executus is the loyal steward of Ragnaros, the penultimate encounter of Molten Core. He guards the path to the Firelord's pool and personally summons his master at the end of the fight. The Majordomo encounter is unlike anything else in the raid: not a single-target damage race but a test of discipline, crowd control and raid coordination.
The defining trait of the encounter is that Majordomo himself is immortal. You cannot land a killing blow on him — his health never reaches zero. Victory is counted only when all eight of his minions are dead. Once the retinue falls, Majordomo concedes defeat, bows and offers to summon Ragnaros, opening the final fight of the raid.
The Retinue
Majordomo's escort consists of eight elementals of two types. Understanding their roles is half the battle.
| Minion | Count | Role in the fight |
|---|---|---|
| Flamewaker Healer | 4 | Heal Majordomo and the Elites, extend the fight forever |
| Flamewaker Elite | 4 | Heavy melee damage, stun the raid |
Flamewaker Healer
The healers are the most dangerous part of the retinue even though they deal almost no damage. As long as a single healer lives, the Elites keep restoring health and cannot be killed, so the whole raid opens the fight by wiping out the healers. They cast powerful heals that must be interrupted (Kick, Pummel, Earth Shock, Counterspell) and burned down fast.
Flamewaker Elite
The Elites deal serious melee damage and use Fist of Ragnaros, an ability that stuns players around the target. They are kept under crowd control until every healer is dead, then killed one at a time so damage stays focused and manageable.
Majordomo's Abilities
Although Majordomo cannot be killed, he actively disrupts the raid throughout the fight.
| Ability | What it does | Raid response |
|---|---|---|
| Magic Reflection | Reflects magic damage back at casters | Casters stop hitting Majordomo while the buff is up |
| Damage Shield | Damages anyone attacking him in melee | Melee never strikes Majordomo himself |
| Blast Wave | Fire wave in an area, damage and slow | Never stack up in his melee range |
| Teleport | Pulls a random player straight to him | The victim runs back to the raid immediately |
Magic Reflection is a frequent cause of mage and warlock deaths. Never hit Majordomo himself with spells: a reflected Pyroblast or Shadow Bolt can kill a caster instantly. All damage goes into the minions only.
Fight Strategy
The key to victory is strict crowd control and the right kill order.
Sequence of Actions
1. Tanks pick up threat. The main tank holds Majordomo and part of the Elites, off-tanks grab the rest. A skilled MT can hold several Elites at once. 2. Control the healers. Mages Polymorph, warlocks Banish and Fear, hunters use Freezing Trap — the goal is to spread all eight out so they are never clumped. 3. Focus the healers. The raid kills the four Flamewaker Healers one by one, always interrupting their casts. 4. Finish the Elites. With the healers dead, the raid switches to the Elites and destroys them individually.
Assign a dedicated "marker" to place raid icons (skull, cross, moon) on the minions in advance. This dramatically speeds up focus fire and prevents the raid from breaking a Polymorph by hitting a controlled target.
Raid Roles
| Role | Task |
|---|---|
| Main Tank | Holds Majordomo and several Elites |
| Off-Tanks | Pick up the remaining Flamewaker Elites |
| Mages/Warlocks | Polymorph and Banish minions, interrupts |
| Healers | Support tanks under heavy Elite damage |
| DPS | Focus healers, then finish the Elites |
Majordomo's Loot
Majordomo is an important source of T1 gear right before the final boss.
| Item | Type | For whom |
|---|---|---|
| Gauntlets of Might (and other T1) | Plate/Mail/Cloth | Wrath gloves, various classes |
| Wristguards of Stability | Plate | Tanks and warriors |
| Fireproof Cloak | Cloak | Fire resistance for the raid |
| Core Forged Greaves | Plate | Tank legs |
| Finkle's Lava Dredger | 2H Mace | Reward from the cooking quest |
Finkle's Lava Dredger is not a normal drop but a cooking-quest reward: an item is collected from Majordomo's body for the chef Finkle Einhorn. Do not forget to loot it — it is a fun and useful prize.
Tips for WoW x5
On the x5 server the Majordomo fight keeps all of its tactical depth but plays out more briskly.
Thanks to the x5 rates the healer minions die noticeably faster, so the window in which you must keep the Elites controlled is shorter. Even so, a broken Polymorph can still dump an extra pack onto your healers.
Hand out fire resistance potions and make sure your interrupters (warriors, rogues, shamans, mages) have their healer targets assigned in advance. Clean interrupt coverage matters far more than raw DPS in this fight.
For the full raid route see the Molten Core page. Garr and Golemagg come before Majordomo, and right after the retinue falls Majordomo summons Ragnaros — the next and final fight. Ready for the clash? Register on wowx5.ru and join the raid.
FAQ
Why can't Majordomo be killed directly?
Majordomo Executus himself is immortal — no amount of damage will bring him down. The encounter ends only when the raid destroys all eight of his minions: four Flamewaker Healers and four Flamewaker Elites. Once they die, Majordomo yields and offers to summon Ragnaros.
Who do you kill first against Majordomo?
Focus the Flamewaker Healers first — they heal the other minions and make the fight endless. Keep the remaining Elites under crowd control (Polymorph, Banish, Fear), then finish the Elites one by one after the healers are dead.
What loot does Majordomo Executus drop?
Majordomo drops T1 tokens and pieces (the Wrath gloves and bracers), Wristguards of Stability, Fireproof Cloak, Core Forged Greaves, plus Finkle's Lava Dredger from the cooking quest. He is the last source of T1 before Ragnaros.
