Fight Mechanics
Necrotic Aura
- Effect: Prevents all healing spell use
- Duration: 17 seconds — active almost continuously
- Heal window: 3 seconds when Fungal Bloom destroyed
- Cannot be removed — only bypassed via Bloom
Fungal Bloom (Spores)
Every 20 seconds Loatheb spawns 5–6 Spores at random locations: 1. Spores must be destroyed (100 HP each) 2. On destruction: Necrotic Aura lifted for 3 seconds 3. All healers must immediately start healing
Assign 2–3 players as "Spore Killers" — they stand at walls and kill spores instantly. Ideal — Rogue with fast attack or Mage with Frostbolt.
Inevitable Doom
Every 30 seconds Loatheb applies Inevitable Doom to the entire raid:
- 250 Shadow damage immediately
- Stacks (2 stacks = 500, 3 stacks = 750, etc.)
- Cannot be removed
This is the fight timer. At 5+ stacks the raid starts dying faster than it can be healed.
Deaden
- Every 3 seconds: applies Deaden to random player
- Reduces maximum health by 25%
- Stacks (at 4 stacks player dies from weak damage)
Tactics
Algorithm
1. Start — all DPS engage, maximum output from second one 2. Every 20 sec — spores appear → Spore Killers destroy → 3 seconds of healing 3. Healers use only instant spells and HoT before Bloom windows 4. In Bloom window: all healers spam fastest/strongest spells 5. Inevitable Doom every 30 sec — watch mana
Healing Priority in Bloom Window
| Priority | Target | Spell |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | MT | Flash Heal / Holy Light |
| 2 | Players with Deaden × 2+ | Greater Heal |
| 3 | Whole raid | Circle of Healing / Chain Heal |
Consumables for Loatheb
| Item | For | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Healthstone | Whole raid | Emergency heal without magic |
| Bandage (Heavy Runecloth) | Melee DPS | Heal without magic between Bloom windows |
| Flask of Supreme Power | Mages/Warlocks | +150 Spell Power |
Bandages are very useful on Loatheb — they are not "healing spells" so they work even during Necrotic Aura! Every melee player should have a stack of bandages.

FAQ
Why can't you heal on Loatheb?
Loatheb applies Necrotic Aura — prevents use of all healing spells for 17 seconds. It lifts for only 3 seconds when Fungal Bloom spores are destroyed. Healers must heal during these 3-second windows.
What is Fungal Bloom on Loatheb?
Fungal Bloom is a spore Loatheb spawns every 20 seconds. Destroying the spore lifts Necrotic Aura for 3 seconds. Healers only heal during these windows.
What DPS is needed for Loatheb?
Recommended 3500+ total DPS. Loatheb kills via Inevitable Doom (250 Shadow/stack every 30 sec, stacks infinitely). The faster your DPS — the fewer Doom stacks accumulate.
