Molten Core is the first 40-player raid in WoW Classic Vanilla and the endgame entry point on the WoW Classic X5 realm (1.12.1, x5 rates). It is home to Ragnaros Ragnaros, the Firelord, and drops powerful Pre-BiS items for all classes.

Requirements and access

Minimum entry level is 60. Recommended is a Pre-BiS set from 5-man dungeons at level 58–60 (Stratholme, Scholomance, LBRS/UBRS). There is no separate attunement quest for Ragnaros — the entrance is open through BRD.

Bosses

Molten Core has 10 bosses.

Lucifron — first boss, adds casters; decurse required.
Magmadar Magmadar — fears pets and applies Panic Flame; Hunters use Tranquilizing Shot.
Gehennas — applies a healing debuff; curse must be removed.
Garr — 8 adds; tanks hold each one, Mages and Warlocks burn them down.
Baron Geddon — Living Bomb; the afflicted player runs out.
Shazzrah — teleports to the center; scatter the group, keep distance.
Sulfuron Harbinger — 4 healer adds; kill them first.
Golemagg — two guardian golems; pure DPS race.
Majordomo Executus — 4 guards + 8 spellcasters; kill spellcasters before guards.
Ragnaros Ragnaros — final boss; wave phases, knock Sons of Flame back at the right time.

Loot and Pre-BiS

Molten Core drops Tier 1 sets (8 pieces) and unique Pre-BiS weapons. Key drops: Hand of Ragnaros Hand of Ragnaros (Mage hammer), Perdition's Blade Perdition's Blade (Rogue dagger), Arcanist Robes Arcanist Robes (Mage). On x5 rates the raid clears in 1–2 hours, making it efficient for farming progression loot.

How do you enter Molten Core?

The entrance is inside Blackrock Mountain. Run through Blackrock Depths to reach Molten Core: the fire seal opens the path to Ragnaros. The attunement quest goes through BRD, or you can get a summon from your guild.
