This pairing turns the encounter into a classic DPS race: victory depends not on clever phases, but on how fast your raid burns down the giant's health pool.
The Core Mechanic: Immortal Hounds
The defining feature of the fight is simple: the Core Ragers are immune while Golemagg lives. Their health cannot be pushed below a threshold, so focusing them is pointless — you only bleed away damage you need elsewhere. When Golemagg dies, both hounds instantly perish alongside him.
From this follows the only correct strategy: send all DPS into Golemagg, and merely hold the hounds on their tanks, away from the raid.
Do not let ranged DPS clip the Core Ragers with area spells. AoE on the hounds brings you no closer to a kill, but it does peel threat off the off-tanks and sends a Rager charging into the raid.

Positioning
- The main tank pulls Golemagg to the anchor spot and faces him away from the raid.
- Two off-tanks each grab one Core Rager and drag the hounds to the sides, keeping them apart from one another and from the giant.
- All DPS hit Golemagg only. Ranged players stand so their area spells never touch the hounds.
- Healers split up: some on the main tank (Magma Splash), some on the off-tanks (Mangle), the rest on the raid to cover Earthquake.
Tank Swaps
As Magma Splash stacks climb on the main tank, a backup warrior takes over while the debuff falls off. The same applies to the off-tanks under Mangle: the heavy armor debuff turns a tank into paper, so the tank pairs on each hound trade places.
If an off-tank dies under Mangle, the freed Core Rager crashes into the raid and scatters your healers. Keep a reserve tank ready and agree on the rotation before the pull.
