Fankriss the Unyielding in Ahn'Qiraj
Vanilla WoW Classic 1.12 · x5 realm · wowx5.ruFankriss the Unyielding is a massive Qiraji worm and the third boss of AQ40. The fight demands clear role separation: one group focuses the boss while another continuously clears add waves and rescues cocooned allies on WoW Classic X5 (wowx5.ru).
Fight Mechanics
Fankriss is stationary — he stays in place and periodically spawns waves of Vekniss Hatchlings. He also randomly encases players in Cocoons, and his attacks apply Mortal Wound, reducing incoming healing by 50% for 30 seconds.
Key Abilities
| Ability | Description | Strategy |
|---|---|---|
| Spawn Hatchlings | 3 waves of Vekniss Hatchlings | Immediate AoE cleave |
| Entangle (Cocoon) | Random player trapped | 2-3 DPS burst cocoon down |
| Mortal Wound | −50% healing, 30 sec duration | Extra healers, use cooldowns |
| Crushing Blow | Heavy physical hit on tank | Main tank with high armor |
Mortal Wound stacks on the main tank. At 2-3 stacks healers cannot keep up — use major healing cooldowns or swap to an off-tank immediately.
Raid Setup
Split the raid into two groups: the main DPS group attacks Fankriss, and a cleanup squad (4-5 players) switches immediately to hatchlings and cocoons. Mages and Balance Druids excel at AoE cleaving hatchling waves.
Set a dedicated macro or raid warning for cocooned players — when someone gets trapped the entire cleanup squad targets and destroys the cocoon in seconds.
Loot Table
| Item | Slot | Class |

FAQ
What do we do when a player gets cocooned?
Assign 2-3 dedicated DPS to destroy the cocoon immediately — the trapped player takes ongoing damage and will die without quick rescue.
Are the Vekniss Hatchlings dangerous?
Yes, they spawn in waves and attack random players. Keep AoE casters ready to cleave them down instantly with each spawn.
