Staff stats

Every version of Atiesh is a two-handed staff with 130–243 damage at 2.90 speed, a spell power or healing bonus and a unique aura for party members within 30 yards. The staff can also open a portal to Karazhan (in 1.12.1 the Karazhan raid itself is not open yet — the portal leads to the tower). Below is the mage version.

How to build it: step by step

Building Atiesh is a marathon requiring dozens of Naxxramas clears plus a C'Thun kill. The chain is run by Anachronos at the Caverns of Time in Tanaris.

Step 1: 40 splinters and the Frame of Atiesh

The Splinter of Atiesh drops from every Naxxramas boss except Sapphiron and Kel'Thuzad and is Bind on Pickup. Only priests, mages, warlocks and druids can loot it. Once you have 40, combine them into the Frame of Atiesh, which starts the quest Frame of Atiesh.

Step 2: Anachronos and the Befouled Greatstaff

Bring the frame to Anachronos at the Caverns of Time in Tanaris — you need at least Neutral reputation with the Brood of Nozdormu for him to talk to you. He gives the quest Atiesh, the Befouled Greatstaff: bring him the Staff Head of Atiesh from Kel'Thuzad and the Base of Atiesh from C'Thun in the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj. Do not show the frame to Archmage Tarsis Kir-Moldir in Naxxramas or Archmage Angela Dosantos in Light's Hope Chapel — both die at the sight of it.

Step 3: Cleansing in Stratholme

After handing in the head and base you receive the befouled staff and the final quest. Use the staff on the Consecrated Earth in Stratholme, on the street between the Scarlet and Scourge halves of the city. The demon Atiesh, the Hand of Sargeras, bursts out of the staff. Kill it with your group, return to Anachronos and receive the version of the staff for your class.

◆Class versions

You cannot choose the version — it is set by your class. The differences are in stats and in the party aura:

• Mage: +2% spell hit, up to +150 spell power, party aura +2% spell critical chance.
• Warlock: +2% spell critical chance, up to +150 spell power, party aura up to +33 spell damage and healing.
• Priest: up to +120 spell damage and up to +300 healing, party aura up to +62 healing.
• Druid: up to +300 healing, +420 attack power in Cat, Bear and Dire Bear forms, party aura 11 mana per 5 sec.

Who should build it

Atiesh is a goal for a steady caster raider ready for the long Naxxramas and Ahn'Qiraj grind. For mage and warlock it is a top damage staff; for priest and druid a powerful healing tool. The auras affect your party (within 30 yards), not the whole raid, so place the Atiesh holder in the group that benefits most.

Collection tactics on x5

40 splinters means dozens of Naxxramas clears, so Atiesh is built methodically rather than on luck. Guilds usually form a queue: splinters go to one caster first, then the next. This order guarantees at least one Atiesh appears in the raid within a reasonable time and boosts the whole roster.

Practical recommendations:

• Track splinters in a shared guild sheet — progress stays visible and loot disputes are avoided.
• Build the queue around aura value: the mage boosts party spell crit, the priest healing, the druid mana regeneration, the warlock spell power.
• Kill C'Thun and reach Neutral with the Brood of Nozdormu in advance — without the base and access to Anachronos the splinters are useless.
• On x5 Naxxramas raids go faster, but roster stability matters more than speed — consistent attendance builds splinters faster than one-off push raids.

Atiesh is a team goal: the more disciplined the raid, the sooner the legendary Guardian's staff appears in it.
