Stratholme: Bosses, Tactics, BiS Loot, and Deathcharger
Vanilla WoW Classic 1.12 · x5 realm · wowx5.ruStratholme is one of WoW Classic's most iconic dungeons, located in the Eastern Plaguelands. The legendary city burned by Arthas during the plague of undeath is split into two independent sections: Strath Live (Service Entrance) and Strath Dead (Main Gate). Each section has its own bosses, loot, and separate entrance.
Level and Requirements
- Recommended level: 58–60
- Players: 5
- Key: Not required for Main Gate. Service Entrance requires Crescent Key (from Maraudon quest or Strath UD).
Two Entrances — Two Sections
Main Gate (Strath Dead / Baron side)
South entrance. Final boss: Baron Rivendare. Primary farming for:
- Dungeon Set 1 (Tier 0) — most pieces drop here.
- Deathcharger's Reins — skeleton horse mount (~1% from Baron Rivendare).
- Argent Dawn reputation through special quests.
Service Entrance (Strath Live / Slaughter side)
East entrance. Final bosses: Balnazzar and Mal'Ganis (quest). Primary for:
- Other Dungeon Set 1 pieces.
- Lords of the Undead and demon loot — unique drops.
- Longer and harder than Baron side.

Baron Rivendare Tactics
The most farmed boss in Classic due to the mount drop:
1. Death Aura: constant debuff on everyone in range — healer must heal continuously. 2. Skeletal summons: periodically calls skeleton adds; AoE helps. 3. Charge on healer/casters: tank must maintain aggro at all times. 4. Group stacks behind Baron's back — the only safe sector.
Deathcharger's Reins
Deathcharger's Reins drops from Baron Rivendare at approximately 0.8–1% chance:
- The only undead mount in Classic (outside of special rewards).
- Usable by both Alliance and Horde.
- Not an official farm counter — hundreds of attempts is normal; thousands happens.
On x5 with fast clears, you can do 4–6 runs per hour.
Tips for x5
- Burn strategy: on x5 bosses die fast — open with cooldowns immediately.
- Priest Shackle Undead in Service Entrance drastically simplifies the run.
- For quick loot farming, Baron Side without Service Entrance takes ~25–30 minutes.
- If farming the mount — run every lockout, keep a count.
Argent Dawn Reputation in Stratholme
Both sides of Stratholme award Argent Dawn reputation:
- Special quests from AD agents near the entrance.
- Internal quests targeting undead mobs (Corruptor's Scourgestone, Minion's Scourgestone).
- Combine loot farming with reputation accumulation.
