UBRS: Key, Bosses, BiS Loot, and Tactics
Vanilla WoW Classic 1.12 · x5 realm · wowx5.ruUBRS (Upper Blackrock Spire) is one of the most popular end-game dungeons in WoW Classic. Located inside Blackrock Mountain — the same mountain that houses LBRS, BRD, and the Molten Core raid entrance — UBRS is a 10-player raid in Classic (reduced to 5 in TBC). It's farmed for pre-raid BiS gear, quest items for Onyxia and MC attunement, and Dungeon Sets 1 and 2.

How to Get the UBRS Key (Seal of Ascension)
The UBRS key quest is one of Classic's most well-known chains:
1. Find Vaelan inside LBRS and pick up the quest. 2. Collect 3 ritual stones from LBRS bosses: Statue of Omokk, Shadow Hunter Vosh'gajin, War Master Voone. 3. Complete "What the Orb Revealed" — Vaelan gives the Orb of Draconic Energy. 4. Kill Pyroguard Emberseer inside UBRS (requires at least one keyholder in the group). 5. Receive Seal of Ascension — use it at the UBRS gate to unlock the door.
The key is personal, but one keyholder can open the door for the entire 10-person group.

General Drakkisath Tactics
The final boss:
1. Conflagration: applies fire DoT to a random player — they must immediately run away from the group or the AoE will kill everyone nearby. 2. Two guard adds: keep them separated; one tank handles one add, the other handles Drakkisath. 3. Add priority: kill the guards first (they buff Drakkisath if alive), then the main boss. 4. Healer must track and heal the Conflagration target who's separated from the group.

For Warriors
- Drakkisath's Gauntlet — among the best pre-raid gloves.
- Ornate Adamantium Breastplate (rare drop) — pre-BiS chest for warriors.
For Casters
- Finkle's Lava Dredger — best pre-raid caster staff before Molten Core.
- Materials for Robe of the Archmage craft.
For Rogues / Hunters
- Beaststalker's Mantle — Tier 0 hunter shoulders.
- Shadowcraft Tunic — Tier 0 rogue chest.
Quest Items
- Blood of the Black Dragon Champion — required for Onyxia attunement (both factions).

UBRS as a Gateway to Onyxia and MC
UBRS is critically important for progression guilds:
- Onyxia Attunement requires killing Drakkisath for his blood (quest item).
- Molten Core Attunement also passes through UBRS.
- Many guilds run UBRS as their first raid before MC and Onyxia.
Tips for x5
- On x5, UBRS clears in 45–60 minutes with a good group versus ~90–120 minutes at normal speed.
- The Beast requires care: Enrage kills melee in 1–2 hits — limit DPS when he reaches low HP.
- Build a roster of 5–7 keyholders in your guild — no bottleneck on one person for multiple weekly raids.
- Bring 2 priests: Shackle Undead for some mob packs and double healing for Drakkisath.

Why does UBRS have 10 players, not 5?
In original WoW Classic, UBRS was a 10-player raid. Blizzard later reduced it to 5 in TBC patches, but on Classic x5 servers the original 10-person format is preserved.
Can you enter UBRS without a key?
No. At least one player with the Seal of Ascension must be present to open the gate for the group.
Is UBRS required for Molten Core?
Yes — MC attunement requires killing Drakkisath in UBRS for the quest item.
