Starting Zones 1–10 in WoW Classic (x5)
Vanilla WoW Classic 1.12 · x5 realm · wowx5.ruIn WoW Classic the first ten levels are spent in each race's own starting zone. On the x5 realm they fly by in 1–2 hours — but this is where you get your base gear and learn your class. Below are all starting zones for both factions.
Take two gathering professions right away (herbs+ore or skinning+ore) — materials from your first mobs already earn gold toward a future mount.
Alliance Starting Zones
- Elwynn Forest — Humans. Goldshire and Northshire, compact quest hubs, Stormwind nearby.
- Dun Morogh — Dwarves and Gnomes. Kharanos, Coldridge; leads into Loch Modan.
- Teldrassil — Night Elves. Shadowglen and Dolanaar; portal to Darnassus, ferry to Darkshore.
Horde Starting Zones
- Durotar — Orcs and Trolls. Valley of Trials, Sen'jin; Orgrimmar nearby.
- Mulgore — Tauren. Bloodhoof Village, Camp Narache; leads to the Barrens.
- Tirisfal Glades — Undead. Deathknell, Brill; Undercity nearby.
Step-by-Step 1–10
1. Do the intro quests at your starting NPC — they teach your core abilities. 2. Follow the zone's ring of quest hubs, turning in chains in batches. 3. By level 6 learn professions from trainers in the starting town. 4. By level 10–12 clear the zone and move to your first 10–20 zone.
Beginner Tips on x5
- Don't vendor grey items one by one — stack them and sell in bulk.
- Install a quest addon (Questie) — markers save tens of minutes.
- First mount is at level 40; start saving gold now.

FAQ
Which starting zone is the fastest?
All starting zones are balanced similarly, but Elwynn Forest (Humans) and Durotar (Orcs/Trolls) are the most compact with close quest hubs. On x5 any of them clears in 1–2 hours.
Can I leave the starting zone before level 10?
You can, but it's not advised: starting quests give gear and gold toward your first mount later. Best to finish to level 10–12, then move to a 10–20 zone.
Should I pick professions right away?
Grab two gathering professions (e.g. Herbalism + Mining) around level 5–6 so you farm materials as you go. Crafting can wait.
