Loch Modan is a cosy dwarven Alliance zone for levels 10–20, east of Ironforge. The town of Thelsamar, the huge loch, the famous Stonewrought Dam, troggs, bears and the Mo'grosh ogres provide a clean quest flow. It is the ideal alternative to Westfall for dwarves, gnomes and anyone who started in Dun Morogh. On x5 the zone flies by in a couple of hours.
Level range and how to get there
Range: Levels 10–20. East of Dun Morogh through the pass. The hub is Thelsamar with an inn, trainers and a flight path. To the north-east, through Dun Algaz, the road leads to Wetlands.
Quest hubs and chains
Thelsamar — the main hub: the Ironband excavation, hunting troggs and bears, scouting ogres. The Ironband's Excavation chain sits by the eastern shore. Quests defend the Dam against troggs surfacing from below. Bear meat and hides are handy for cooking and leatherworking.

Elites and danger spots
The Mo'grosh Stronghold in the north-east holds elite ogres — Loch Modan's final quests send a group there. The rest of the zone is calm and well suited to solo levelling.
Nearby dungeons
The zone has no dungeon of its own. By level and geography Uldaman (Badlands, 35–45) comes later; for now push into Wetlands. The nearest 15–21 instance is the Deadmines in Westfall.
Leveling tips for x5
- Turn in quests in batches and return to the hub less often — on x5 experience pours in and running around wastes time.
- Keep your gear fresh: hit the auction house and an enchanter every 5–7 levels.
- Carry food, water and bandages — on boosted rates a regen pause noticeably slows your pace.
- Team up for group and elite quests with passers-by to clear them without needless deaths.
- Do not over-level: once the zone stops offering yellow quests, move on along the route.
