The Hinterlands are one of the best 40–50 zones in the Eastern Kingdoms: dense quests, rich troll camps and quest gorillas. Alliance holds Aerie Peak, the Horde holds Revantusk, and both sides gain levels fast.
Level Range and How to Get There
The recommended range is level 40–50. Alliance reaches it via Aerie Peak, the Horde via Revantusk Village. On the x5 server leveling is faster than classic, so grab hub quests in a batch and don't stretch the zone out.
Quest Hubs and Chains
Hubs: Aerie Peak in the west (Alliance — Wildhammer dwarves, flight, bank) and Revantusk Village in the east (Horde — allied trolls). Neutral Quel'Danil Lodge in the north hands out high-elf quests.

Elites
The Jintha'Alor summit is an elite area: High Priestess Hexx and her guard need a 3–5 player group but give excellent XP and quest loot. The green dragon Seradane in the northwest grove is a world raid boss, not for leveling.
Nearby Dungeons
The Hinterlands have no dungeon of their own. Stick to the Jintha'Alor quests; for group content head to Dire Maul (Feralas) or Zul'Farrak (Tanaris) nearby.
Tips for the x5 Server
- Lower Jintha'Alor is an XP goldmine at 44–48: trolls stand thick and die fast.
- Bring a group for the summit — it's elites and Priestess Hexx up there.
- Um'gol gorillas serve both quests and paw farming — take both tasks at once.
- On x5 the 40–50 range closes in a couple of evenings — grab every hub quest.
- Herbalists find Stranglekelp and Goldthorn; leatherworkers get thick and rugged leather off gorillas and raptors.
Where to Go Next
After 48–50 head to the Western Plaguelands (51–58), Feralas or Un'Goro Crater (48–55). All three continue smoothly toward 58–60.
