Level range and how to get there
The recommended range is level 50–58. Alliance arrive from Chillwind Camp at the western entrance; Horde from The Bulwark on the Tirisfal border. Both factions have flight paths. The nearest hubs are Tirisfal to the south and the Alterac Mountains to the west.
Quest hubs and chains
Key hubs: Chillwind Camp — an Argent Dawn base with anti-Scourge chains; Hearthglen — a Scarlet Crusade stronghold (hostile humans, 50+); and the farms Writhing Haunt and Gahrron's Withering — undead hotspots for cleansing quests. Grab quests in a batch: objectives line the main road to Andorhal.

Elite Scourge patrols (butchers, bone mages) and elite Scarlet knights near Hearthglen roam the zone. Most are duoable; the quests to destroy the necropolis near Andorhal are easier in a pair. World elite content opens later — tied to Naxxramas hovering over the Eastern Plaguelands.
Nearby dungeons
Right in the zone, on Caer Darrow island, sits the entrance to Scholomance — a 58–60 necromantic academy of Kel'Thuzad. A perfect combo: hit 58 in the Western Plaguelands, then form a Scholomance group.

- On x5 the 50–58 range clears in a couple of evenings — stick to the Chillwind Camp chains.
- Farming the Scourge here builds Argent Dawn reputation — don't skip it, you need it for Naxxramas access.
