Details: the Ragnaros fix

The Ragnaros bug was reproducible: if the raid wiped at the moment of Sons of Flame cast in phase two, Ragnaros sometimes didn't reset correctly and stayed at 1 HP. On the next attempt the fight started from an anomalous state. Fixed — root cause: an incorrect encounter_reset flag on simultaneous timeout of two event threads.

Technical details of performance improvements

Dark Portal and Blackrock Spire sharding now uses a dynamic balancer: when >50 players are in the zone a second shard activates automatically. Previously the threshold was hard-coded at 120 players, and the zone lagged until the switch. The new threshold of 50 is pre-emptive.

PvP queue DB optimization: an extra SELECT COUNT(*) per JOIN was removed — the backend now caches queue size in memory with a 2-second TTL. With 30+ concurrent JOINs this caused noticeable lock contention.

How to report a bug

Found a problem? Use the standard procedure:

1. In-game: type /bug and fill in the description. The ticket goes directly to the admin queue. 2. Discord #bug-report: paste the reproduction steps and, if possible, a screenshot or video. 3. Forum: for complex bugs with hard-to-reproduce steps, create a thread in the Bug Reports subforum.

Good bug report format:

  • What happened (symptom)
  • What should have happened (expected behavior)
  • How to reproduce (step by step)
  • Character name and zone at the time

The faster and clearer the report, the faster the fix appears in the next hotfix.
