Tip

On an x5 server Naxxramas farms faster, and the spell power from Wraith Blade gives a clear damage and healing boost — discuss priority among casters in advance.

Who needs it

The sword is valuable for mages, warlocks and shadow priests: raw spell power directly boosts Fireball, Shadow Bolt and other key spells. Healing priests can use it as a stopgap too.

Farming tactics on x5

How to speed up getting the item:

  • Ensure a clean run through every wing of Naxxramas — without reaching Kel'Thuzad the sword will not drop.
  • Agree on distribution among casters: mages, warlocks and priests all want the sword.
  • Until Wraith Blade drops, use AQ40 caster weapons as a stopgap.

Summary

Wraith Blade is the benchmark one-handed caster weapon of the final tier: high spell power and intellect make it a goal for several classes at once. It is worth keeping Naxxramas in the raid rotation for it.
