Baroness Anastari

Section: Dungeons 1 min read Vanilla 1.12.1 · x5 Updated 04.08.2026

Baroness Anastari is a banshee guarding one of the three Undead-side ziggurats. Her main danger is Possession: she mind-controls a player and heals off them. Killing all three ziggurat bosses lowers the barriers before the Baron.

The Possession mechanic

  • Every ~15 seconds Anastari casts Possession on a random player: they leave your control and heal the Baroness while attacking allies.
  • To break it, the group must burn the possessed player to ~50% health — then the effect drops. Agree in advance who can be hit (a possessed healer is usually the most dangerous).
  • Banshee Wail is shadow damage on the target; Banshee Curse lowers damage dealt / accuracy.

Tactics

  • Position so you can switch quickly to the possessed player. Keep the healer near the tank.
  • On x5 she has fewer Possession windows thanks to the fast kill — focus your burst.
  • If a mage/warlock is possessed, AoE spells are dangerous; keep the formation spread.

FAQ

How do I counter Possession?

Burn the possessed ally to about half health and the control drops. Decide beforehand who is safe to hit and don't kill them by accident.

Can Possession be dispelled?

No, it is a mind control, not a normal magic debuff — it only breaks by damaging the target to the health threshold.

Is Anastari mandatory?

Yes if you head to the Baron: the three ziggurat bosses (Anastari, Nerub'enkan, Maleki) must die to lower the barriers.
