Arcanist Doan is the final boss of the Library wing and one of the most recognizable Vanilla bosses. He stands in the far book hall. His signature move is Detonation: he wraps himself in a shield and blasts everything around with an arcane wave.
Tactics
The key to the fight is playing Detonation correctly:
- Doan casts Silence and sometimes Polymorph — don't panic, keep DPS between them.
- When he puts up the Arcane Bubble and starts Detonation — IMMEDIATELY run away from him and
hide behind pillars. Damage scales with distance: melee range is lethal, far away is survivable.
- While the shield is up, damage on Doan is wasted — wait it out, then finish him.
Agree in advance which way to scatter for Detonation — stacking is the most common cause of a wipe on Doan.
