Mekgineer Thermaplugg — The Mad Engineer
Mekgineer Thermaplugg is Gnomeregan's final boss, a deranged gnome engineer who betrayed the city and flooded it with radiation. The fight takes place in the round Hall of Gears with bomb dispensers around the rim.
Tactics
The main mechanic is walking bombs:
- Through the fight Thermaplugg activates bomb dispensers on the arena walls. Small
walking bombs emerge, run at players and explode for heavy AoE damage.
- Assign one player to the bombs (a ranged one is best — hunter/mage): they shoot or
detonate them in a controlled way away from the group.
- Everyone else focuses the boss. Don't let bombs pile up — several simultaneous blasts
wipe the group.
- Area damage (Frost Nova, traps, AoE spells) helps hold the bombs back.
The classic mistake is all DPS on the boss with bombs ignored. After 20–30 seconds a wave builds up and the group dies. Bomb discipline matters more than speed.

- On x5 keep bomb discipline — a rushed group wipes more often than one short on damage.
- Auto-Blocker 600 is a nice block trinket for a tank in this level range.
- After Thermaplugg the dungeon is done — don't forget to turn in quests in Ironforge.

The key is controlling the walking bombs. The boss launches bombs from wall dispensers; destroy them from range or detonate them in a controlled way before they reach the group. One player handles bombs while the rest DPS the boss.
