Dire Maul: Full Wing-by-Wing Walkthrough
Vanilla WoW Classic 1.12 · x5 realm · wowx5.ruDire Maul (DM) is a night elf ruin in Feralas overrun by Gordok ogres, satyrs and elementals. This level 55–60 dungeon splits into three wings — east, west and north. It's where you farm the famous dungeon buffs and run the ogre tribute run.
Quick Summary
| Location | Feralas |
| Level | 55–60 |
| Faction | Alliance and Horde |
| Players | 5 |
| Bosses | 3 wings |
| Run time | 40–90 min / wing |
How to Get There
The entrance is in central Feralas, with three separate doors per wing. West opens immediately; east is the easiest; north needs the Gordok key (pickpocketed from an ogre). Both factions arrive via Thousand Needles and Desolace, and a vendor camp sits at the entrance.
Key Boss Tactics
| Boss | Tip |
|---|---|
| Zevrim Thornhoof (East) | A satyr at the altar who heals from sacrifices. Disable the altar via quest or interrupt his heals. |
| Hydrospawn (East) | A water elemental that splits into droplets under AoE. Use single-target damage, don't feed the splits. |
| Alzzin the Wildshaper (East, final) | A satyr druid who shapeshifts into a beast and summons vines. Purge buffs, focus between summons. |
| Immol'thar (West) | A demon caged by five crystal generators. Shut the generators (or use them as a buff station), then kill the demon. |
| Prince Tortheldrin (West, final) | A night elf empowered by Immol'thar's crystals. Leave the generators up and he's stronger; shut them before the fight. |
| Gordok guards (North) | Fengus, Mol'dar and Slip'kik grant dungeon buffs (Ferocity, Moxie, Savvy) — kill them for the empowerments. |
| King Gordok (North, final) | The ogre chief. In the tribute run you do NOT kill him but leave him alive — the tribute chest then drops more loot plus the Gordok Might buff. |
Useful Quests
Key quests: the Carrion staff chain for druids (the resto talent quest), the Test of Cenarius, library book turn-ins in the West (profession recipes) and the Gordok chain. Rewards are recipes, Cenarion reputation and XP. Quests are picked up in Feralas and the capitals.
Valuable Loot
Key loot: enchanting recipes and books from the West (including rare runed tablets), weapons and trinkets off Alzzin and Tortheldrin, plus the dungeon buffs for raiding. DM is a popular source of profession recipes.
Tips for the x5 Server
On x5 you run Dire Maul around level 57–60. Plan the tribute run in the North: leaving King Gordok alive yields bonus loot and a strong buff. Clear the West wing for the books and recipes — they sell high on the auction house.
