Dire Maul Librams and Lesser Arcanums in WoW Classic 1.12.1

◆What librams are and why you need them

There are no head or leg enchanting formulas in 1.12.1, so librams are the main way to upgrade these slots. An overview of every option, including Zul'Gurub and shoulders, is gathered in the hub arcanums in WoW Classic. Here we cover the two book-based branches:

• three Dire Maul arcanums — made by Lorekeeper Lydros in the Shen'dralar library;
• five Lesser Arcanums — created by Mathredis Firestar in the Burning Steppes.

In the story the two NPCs are linked: Mathredis is a disciple of Telmius Dreamseeker, who died in Dire Maul, and his master's strongest arcanums are beyond his skill.

How to get a Dire Maul arcanum

1. Pick up Elven Legends: Horde from Sage Korolusk at Camp Mojache, Alliance from Scholar Runethorn at Feathermoon Stronghold (Feralas).
2. Reach the library of the west wing — the route is described in the guide how to get to Dire Maul. The library can also be reached through the north wing.
3. Examine the remains of Telmius Dreamseeker next to Lydros, return to the quest giver and turn the quest in.
4. Obtain a libram: they drop from the regular dungeon inhabitants at roughly one percent or less.
5. Gather the reagents and hand everything to Lydros. Each quest is repeatable, requires level 57 and grants 500 Shen'dralar reputation.

Reagents for Lydros

• Libram of Rapidity → Arcanum of Rapidity (+1% melee and ranged attack speed): Pristine Black Diamond, 2 Large Brilliant Shards, 2 Blood of Heroes (gathered in the Plaguelands).
• Libram of Focus → Arcanum of Focus (+8 spell damage and healing): Pristine Black Diamond, 4 Large Brilliant Shards, 2 Skin of Shadow (from Scholomance).
• Libram of Protection → Arcanum of Protection (+1% dodge): Pristine Black Diamond, 2 Large Brilliant Shards, 1 Frayed Abomination Stitching (from the abominations of Stratholme).

The Pristine Black Diamond is a rare drop from creatures in high-level dungeons: Blackrock Spire, Stratholme, Scholomance and Dire Maul itself. Large Brilliant Shards come from disenchanting high-level rare items.

Arcanum of ProtectionBinds when picked upUse: Permanently adds 1% dodge to a leg or head slot item. Does not stack with other enchantments for the selected equipment slot.

◆Lesser Arcanums from Mathredis Firestar

Mathredis stands at Flame Crest in the Burning Steppes, around 65, 23. His five librams are world drops from creatures in high-level zones, from the Plaguelands to Blackrock Depths. Each quest costs 30 gold, requires a Black Diamond and is available from level 50.

Table of librams and rewards

Every Mathredis quest additionally requires a Black Diamond. Burning Essence, Eye of Kajal and Black Blood of the Tormented are found in the Dark Coffer in Blackrock Depths, the crystal items are made from power crystals in Un'Goro Crater, and Night Dragon's Breath and Whipper Root Tubers are gathered in Felwood.

Tips

• The Lesser Arcanum of Resilience (+20 fire) is the classic pick for fire resistance gear before Molten Core.
• Zanza the Restless in Zul'Gurub trades a spare Dire Maul arcanum for a Savage Guard (+10 nature resistance) — Honored with the Zandalar Tribe is required.
• Librams are unique, so do not hold a second copy — sell it on the auction house.
