Shen'dralar: Dire Maul Reputation, Librams and Arcanums

The Shen'dralar are a secretive Highborne society hiding in the Athenaeum library in the west wing of Dire Maul (Feralas). It is a neutral faction: reputation is raised not by kills but by turning in librams and rare books to the library's lorekeepers. In return Lorekeeper Lydros creates arcanums — some of the best head and leg enchants in Vanilla 1.12.1.

Who Are the Shen'dralar

The Shen'dralar were Queen Azshara's most revered arcanists, keeping her precious tomes in the city of Eldre'Thalas. During the Sundering Prince Tortheldrin and his followers wove a spell that saved the city, but without the Well of Eternity the elves began to wither. Tortheldrin then bound the demon Immol'thar in the west wing and fed his kin on its energy. When the prison began to cost more than it gave, the prince started murdering his own people — their ghosts still wander Dire Maul.

Libram quests open after the Elven Legends quest (Horde — Sage Korolusk at Camp Mojache, Alliance — Scholar Runethorn at Feathermoon Stronghold) and are available from level 57.

Librams are a rare drop from Dire Maul's inhabitants, and Pristine Black Diamonds drop from creatures in high-level dungeons. Everything is detailed on the Dire Maul librams page.

Arcanum of ProtectionBinds when picked upUse: Permanently adds 1% dodge to a leg or head slot item. Does not stack with other enchantments for the selected equipment slot.

Class books drop from Dire Maul bosses and are turned in once per character: Codex of Defense (warrior), The Light and How to Swing It (paladin), The Greatest Race of Hunters (hunter), Garona: A Study on Stealth and Treachery (rogue), Holy Bologna: What the Light Won't Tell You (priest), Frost Shock and You (shaman), The Arcanist's Cookbook (mage), Harnessing Shadows (warlock) and The Emerald Dream (druid). The reward is a class item of your choice plus reputation.

How do I raise Shen'dralar reputation?

Turn in Libram of Rapidity, Focus and Protection with reagents to Lorekeeper Lydros: each quest is repeatable and gives 500 reputation and an arcanum. One-time 500 point turn-ins are the Dire Maul class books, the Enchanted Thorium Platemail volumes and the Pusillin quest.

What do Shen'dralar librams give?

Lydros turns a libram into an arcanum — a head or leg enchant: +1% attack speed, up to +8 spell damage and healing, or +1% dodge.

Does the Shen'dralar sell reputation recipes?

No. The faction has no quartermaster with reputation rewards. The Shen'dralar Provisioner sells drinks and Pattern: Mooncloth Robe, with no reputation requirement. The real value of the faction is the arcanums.
