Hydraxian Waterlords: Reputation and Aqual Quintessence

The main reason to grind this reputation is access to the Aqual Quintessence, an item used to douse the Runes of Warding before the Ragnaros fight. Without the runes doused, the final MC boss cannot be summoned, so at least one raider must hold this reputation.
Why the Reputation Matters
Key reasons to grind the Hydraxian Waterlords:
- Aqual Quintessence — a reusable item to douse the runes before Ragnaros (granted at Friendly).
- Eternal Quintessence — an upgraded infinite version (at Honored).
- Shield enchant "+25 Fire Resistance" — useful for MC fights.

How to Grind the Reputation
Hydraxian Waterlords reputation is earned mainly two ways:

Starting Quest
The chain begins with Duke Hydraxis in the Azshara zone, on the eastern coast. He gives intro tasks, after which item turn-ins open and, later, the Aqual Quintessence is granted.

Tips for x5
On x5 rates guilds reach MC faster, so assign 1–2 people to grind Hydraxian Waterlords from the start of progression — otherwise the raid stalls before Ragnaros without doused runes. Elementium Ore farms in BRD/MC — distribute the drops.
Faction Lore
The Hydraxian Waterlords are ancient water elementals, servants of Neptulon the Tidehunter. They oppose the fire spawn of Molten Core and regard Ragnaros as their sworn enemy. That is why the faction aids adventurers against the Firelord: dousing the runes and granting the quintessence is part of their eternal war of elements. Duke Hydraxis, their envoy in Azshara, coordinates that struggle from the surface.
Starting Checklist
1. Travel to the eastern coast of Azshara and find Duke Hydraxis. 2. Complete the intro quests — they grant the first reputation and open item turn-ins. 3. At Friendly, claim the Aqual Quintessence — that alone is enough for early MC runs. 4. Keep gaining reputation from MC bosses each week up to Honored for the infinite Eternal Quintessence.

No. It is enough for at least one player to have Aqual/Eternal Quintessence to douse the runes before Ragnaros. But more players with it adds redundancy.

Can I raise the reputation without raiding MC?
