Un'Goro Crater: Dinosaurs, Herbs, and Devilsaur
Un'Goro Crater is a lush, dinosaur-filled zone in southern Kalimdor, tucked between Tanaris and Silithus. Recommended level range: 48–55. It is famous for the Linken quest chain, Devilsaur leather farming, and being the best herb farming zone in all of Classic WoW. On WoW x5, the boosted rates here are exceptional — especially for herbalists and Devilsaur skinners.

Marshal's Refuge — Quest Hub
Marshal's Refuge is the main camp in the northern crater. All major quest chains start here:
- It's a Secret to Everybody — The legendary Linken chain, a Zelda homage. Rewards a useful trinket and takes you through Feralas and Winterspring.
- Super Sticky — Collect tar for engineering materials
- The Apes of Un'Goro — Kill gorillas throughout the crater
- Power Crystals — Activate the four power pylons around the crater edge (excellent XP)
The Linken chain is one of the most unique quest lines in Classic. Start it early — it requires travel to other zones but the rewards and lore are worth it. Begin by finding the crashed equipment near Marshal's Refuge.
◆Power Pylons
Four Power Crystal Pylons are positioned around the crater perimeter. Activating each one with the corresponding crystal (Red, Blue, Yellow, Green) completes a quest chain with substantial XP rewards.
Each pylon is guarded by level 50-55 elite elementals. Bring a group or be well-geared.
◆Devilsaur Farming
Devilsaurs are level 54-55 rare elite dinosaurs patrolling the crater floor. They drop:
- Devilsaur Leather — crafted into Devilsaur Gauntlets and Leggings (BiS pre-raid leather DPS gear)
- Devilsaur Eye (rare) — physical DPS trinket
Devilsaur routes are contested. Farming guilds and players camp the patrol loop, especially during peak hours. On WoW x5, competition can be intense. Farm during off-peak times or coordinate with other skinners. PvP may occur on PvP realms.
Herbalism — Best Zone in Classic
Un'Goro is widely regarded as the best herbalism zone in WoW Classic:

◆Fire Elementals — Fire Plume Ridge
The volcano at the center of the crater is home to Fire Elementals (level 51-54). They drop:
- Essence of Fire — alchemy/enchanting ingredient, high AH value
- Heart of Fire — used in fire resistance gear crafting
Good farming for characters 52+ who want a break from herb circuits.

?How do I get to Un'Goro Crater?
Enter from the northern pass out of Tanaris (south from Gadgetzan), or from the Silithus border to the west. There is no flight path inside — fly to Gadgetzan and run north.
?Are Devilsaurs worth farming?
Absolutely. Devilsaur Leather is used for BiS pre-raid leather DPS gear. On x5 loot rates each kill yields more leather than retail.
