The Kingdom of Lordaeron
Vanilla WoW Classic 1.12 · x5 realm · wowx5.ruLordaeron was the mightiest and largest of the human kingdoms of Azeroth — the heart of the Alliance and a bastion of the Light. Its fall in the Third War was the greatest tragedy in human history and gave rise to two new powers: the undead Scourge and the rebellious Forsaken.
The golden age of the kingdom
Lordaeron spanned the north of the continent: Tirisfal Glades, the Plaguelands, the Hillsbrad Foothills and Silverpine Forest. It was ruled by the wise King Terenas Menethil II. After the fall of Stormwind, it was Terenas who gathered the Alliance of Lordaeron and led it to victory in the Second War. In his reign the order of the Silver Hand was founded, and the capital shone as a symbol of hope for all humanity.
The shadow of plague
Ruin came from within. The heir to the throne, Prince Arthas Menethil, pupil of Uther the Lightbringer, failed to stop the plague of undeath the Scourge spread through the villages. Despair and vengeance led him to the cursed blade Frostmourne. Fully fallen, Arthas returned to the capital and struck down his own father upon the throne — a moment that forever broke the history of Azeroth.
Ruins and the Forsaken
After the king's death the Scourge ravaged the kingdom: the lush fields were blighted and the people rose as undead. Later some of the dead broke free of the Lich King's will — and so the Forsaken were born, led by the elves' former leader Sylvanas Windrunner. They built the Undercity directly beneath the ruined capital of Lordaeron.
Lordaeron in WoW Classic
In the Vanilla era the former lands of Lordaeron are a dangerous frontier. In the Western and Eastern Plaguelands the Argent Dawn wages war on the undead, and the citadel of Stratholme — the very place of Arthas's massacre — has become a Scourge dungeon. The ruins of the capital serve as the gate to the Undercity, from which the Forsaken wage their secret war.
