A symbol of faith, honor and the Light, he mentored an entire generation of heroes — and fell at the hand of the most beloved of his pupils.
The first paladin
Uther was the first to be granted a paladin's power by the Church of the Holy Light. He founded the Order of the Silver Hand and knighted its first members, among them Turalyon.
Hero and mentor
In the Second War Uther earned fame as an unbreakable warrior of the Light. Later king Terenas entrusted him with raising his son, prince Arthas Menethil, whom Uther loved as his own.
The Stratholme rift
When the Scourge plagued Stratholme, Arthas ordered the whole city put to the sword. Uther refused to join the slaughter of innocents — and the enraged prince stripped him of command. Their paths parted forever.
Death by Frostmourne
When Arthas returned as a death knight, he killed Uther to seize the urn holding king Terenas' ashes — needed to resurrect Kel'Thuzad. The death of the first paladin was one of the bitterest moments of the Third War.
Legacy of the first paladin
Uther's death did not end his cause: the Order of the Silver Hand and the Church of the Holy Light carry the Light across Azeroth. Every WoW Classic paladin is Uther's spiritual heir. His refusal to kill the innocent at Stratholme remains a measure of honor and a reminder that the end does not justify any means.

On WowX5 x5 Uther's cause is carried on by every paladin of the Silver Hand. Level a knight of the Light, cleanse Stratholme of the Scourge and avenge the first paladin. His story is completed by the other Warcraft legends.
