Warlock Soul Bags: Every Soul Shard Bag in Vanilla 1.12.1

Section: Lore & bestiary 5 min read Vanilla 1.12.1 · x5 Updated 17.10.2026

Soul shard bags are special warlock bags that can hold nothing but Soul Shards. Vanilla 1.12.1 has five of them, from 12 to 28 slots, and on the WoW x5 server a proper soul bag is useful from level 20 onwards: shards do not stack and quickly fill your backpack.

Why a warlock needs a soul bag

A Soul Shard is obtained with Drain Soul and spent on summoning the Voidwalker, Succubus and Felhunter, on Healthstones, the Soulstone, Ritual of Summoning and other spells. Farming and spending shards is covered in detail in the warlock soul shards guide; this page focuses on the bags.

Every shard takes a separate slot. If you carry 20–25 shards in normal bags, there is hardly any room left for loot. A soul bag solves this: it goes into one of your four bag slots but only accepts shards, so regular items never end up inside. How the whole inventory works is explained in the WoW Classic bags hub.

Совет

A soul bag does not replace a regular bag, it complements it. Swap out your smallest bag for one once you carry more than 10 shards.

How to get a soul bag

  1. Small Soul Pouch. Rewarded for the Succubus quest around level 20 from the warlock trainer in your capital. Demon quest chains are described in the warlock pets guide.
  2. Box of Souls. Rewarded for the Felhunter quest around level 30. The Tome of the Cabal chain ends with Strahad Farsan in Ratchet and is available to both factions.
  3. Soul Pouch. The pattern is sold by Vizzklick in Gadgetzan (Tanaris). Reagents: 6 Bolt of Runecloth, 4 Rugged Leather, 2 Ichor of Undeath and 1 Rune Thread.
  4. Felcloth Bag. The recipe is learned from a book that appears next to the corpse of Jandice Barov in Scholomance. Reagents: 12 Felcloth, 6 Enchanted Leather, 2 Dark Rune and 4 Ironweb Spider Silk.
  5. Core Felcloth Bag. The pattern is a rare drop from Lord Kazzak and the bosses of Molten Core. Reagents: 20 Felcloth, 16 Core Leather, 8 Bloodvine, 4 Essence of Fire and 4 Ironweb Spider Silk.

Where to farm Felcloth

Felcloth is the key reagent for the two largest bags. It most often drops from the Jadefire satyrs in Felwood and the Legashi satyrs in Azshara. Dark Runes drop from the undead of Scholomance, so the Felcloth Bag is easiest to assemble over several runs there — see the Scholomance guide for the route.

Core Leather and Bloodvine for the 28-slot bag come only from raids, so this bag is a goal for a guild warlock who already raids Molten Core. If you are a tailor yourself, you can craft the whole line — see the tailoring guide for details.

Tips: how many shards to carry and what to buy

  • While leveling, the Small Soul Pouch and Box of Souls are enough: 12–16 shards cover pet summons, Healthstones and a Soulstone.
  • At level 60, buy a Soul Pouch on the Auction House — the cheapest way to get 20 slots. Prices differ between factions, so compare over a few days.
  • For raids, plan on 15–25 shards per evening. A 24–28 slot bag lets you keep a reserve for summoning latecomers and resummoning pets after a wipe.
  • Saving gold: farming Felcloth yourself while questing in Felwood is cheaper than buying it.
  • After leveling you will also need shards and reagents for the warlock epic mount — the quest chain rewards good preparation.

General class advice is in the warlock guide.
