Stranglethorn Vale (STV) is the most famous open PvP zone in WoW Classic. A jungle at the far south of the Eastern Kingdoms, levels 30–45. Both Horde and Alliance quest here simultaneously — and constantly clash in open combat.

Why STV is Legendary
Stranglethorn Vale is where WoW Classic players' characters were forged:

Leveling 30–45 in STV
First Third (30–35): Entering from the North
1. Fly to Rebel Camp (Alliance) or Grom'gol (Horde). 2. Grab ALL available quests — there are many. 3. Main mobs: undead pirates (Booty Bay), Santre and Zul'Mamwe trolls. 4. Avoid zones with 40+ mobs until you're at least 36.
Middle Third (35–40): Jungle Interior
1. Caves, troll camps, artifact quests. 2. "Blood of Heroes" chain — long but gives rare rewards. 3. Start encountering high-level opposing faction players — be careful.
Final Phase (40–45): South and Mountains
1. Quests in Tiamatt Peak and southern ruins. 2. Preparing to move to Hillsbrad or Western Plaguelands. 3. Can start running instances (ZF, RFD) for gear.
PvP in Stranglethorn Vale
STV is PvP chaos. A few strategies:
- Play in a group: a group of 3–5 deters most attackers.
- Don't linger at objectives: kill the mob and keep moving.
- Dawn/night hours: fewer opposing players = more peaceful.
- Stay near water: fewer ambush angles.

Zul'Gurub — Raid Right in STV
At levels 50–60, Zul'Gurub opens in STV — the first 20-man raid of Vanilla WoW. Bosses include Jin'do the Hexxer, Hakkar the Soulflayer, and more. Entrance through the jungle north of Booty Bay.
