Stranglethorn Vale — Leveling Guide in Vanilla WoW Classic

◆Overview

Why STV is Legendary

Stranglethorn Vale is where WoW Classic players' characters were forged:

• Open PvP: both factions on one map, no safe zones (except ports).
• Quest paradise: hundreds of quests, best experience for levels 30–45.
• Zul'Gurub: first 20-man raid right in the STV jungle.
• Fishing Tournament: the weekly Sunday Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza with the Arcanite Fishing Pole as a prize.

Key Locations

Booty Bay

Neutral port city in the south. Auction House, vendors, quests. Ships from Booty Bay sail to Ratchet (Barrens).

Tiamatt Peak

Dangerous 40–45 mountain area with rare mobs and valuable loot.

Grom'gol Base Camp (Horde)

Main Horde hub in STV — quests, trainers, rest. Flight path to Orgrimmar.

Rebel Camp (Alliance)

Alliance outpost — quests for A-faction levels 30–45.

Ruins of the Forgotten

Quest ruins of an ancient civilization — chain for levels 35–40.

Leveling 30–45 in STV

First Third (30–35): Entering from the North

1. Fly to Rebel Camp (Alliance) or Grom'gol (Horde).
2. Grab ALL available quests — there are many.
3. Main mobs: undead pirates (Booty Bay), Santre and Zul'Mamwe trolls.
4. Avoid zones with 40+ mobs until you're at least 36.

Middle Third (35–40): Jungle Interior

1. Caves, troll camps, artifact quests.
2. "Blood of Heroes" chain — long but gives rare rewards.
3. Start encountering high-level opposing faction players — be careful.

Final Phase (40–45): South and Mountains

1. Quests in Tiamatt Peak and southern ruins.
2. Preparing to move to Hillsbrad or Western Plaguelands.
3. Can start running instances (ZF, RFD) for gear.

PvP in Stranglethorn Vale

STV is PvP chaos. A few strategies:

• Play in a group: a group of 3–5 deters most attackers.
• Don't linger at objectives: kill the mob and keep moving.
• Dawn/night hours: fewer opposing players = more peaceful.
• Stay near water: fewer ambush angles.

Gold Farming in STV

Booty Bay Pirates (30–40)

• Drop: silver, potions, vendorable items.
• Reputation: Bloodsail Buccaneers (unlocks NPC Jackson).

Zul'Mamwe Trolls (35–45)

• Blue quality item drops.
• Keys to the ruins.

Rare Mobs

◆Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza

Every Sunday at 14:00 server time Stranglethorn Vale hosts the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza. The goal is to be the first to catch 40 Speckled Tastyfish and hand them to Riggle Bassbait in Booty Bay. Tastyfish only come from Schools of Tastyfish along the coast — never from rivers or lakes.

• Start time: Sunday 14:00 server time; the event lasts two hours.
• Fishing location: Schools of Tastyfish along the Stranglethorn coast.
• Rewards: the winner chooses the Arcanite Fishing Pole (+35 Fishing) or the Hook of the Master Angler; Fishbot 5000 trades rare tournament fish for the Lucky Fishing Hat and other prizes.

Zul'Gurub — Raid Right in STV

At levels 50–60, Zul'Gurub opens in STV — the first 20-man raid of Vanilla WoW. Bosses include Jin'do the Hexxer, Hakkar the Soulflayer, and more. Entrance through the jungle north of Booty Bay.
