Ratchet — a guide to the Barrens port town
Ratchet is a small Steamwheedle Cartel goblin port on the eastern shore of the Barrens. It is one of the first neutral towns a Horde player reaches and a key transport hub: from here the boat The Maiden's Fancy sails to Booty Bay on another continent, and the flight master links half of Kalimdor.
The boat to Booty Bay leaves from Ratchet — one of the few sea bridges between Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms. Set your hearth here if you cross between continents often.

Ratchet's main value is The Maiden's Fancy, the boat running between the Ratchet docks and Booty Bay in Stranglethorn Vale. It is one of the few ways to cross the ocean between the Barrens and the Eastern Kingdoms.

◆Flight master and roads
Ratchet's flight master links the town to Astranaar, Theramore, the Crossroads, Orgrimmar, Gadgetzan and Booty Bay. That makes the port an important transfer between northern and southern Kalimdor.
Nearby lies the entrance to Wailing Caverns — many players run it while based in Ratchet.
Reputation and trade
Ratchet belongs to the Steamwheedle Cartel like the other goblin towns. Good standing with the cartel unlocks vendor discounts across all of Kalimdor.
