Stonetalon Mountains is a rugged, ecologically rich zone in central Kalimdor, designed for players levels 15–27. It lies between Darkshore to the north, the Barrens to the east, and Desolace to the south.

Location and How to Get There
- Alliance: From Darkshore south through the mountain pass via The Charred Vale.
- Horde: From the Barrens west through the Stonetalon Pass.
On WowX5 (x5 rates), the entire zone can be cleared in 2–3 hours. Alliance typically enters from the north; Horde from the east.

Stonetalon Peak
inv_misc_gem_emerald_02 The majestic peak in the northwest with the main night elf settlement. Home to the Ancient of Lore — an ancient creature guarding the forest.
Sunrock Retreat (Horde Hub)
The main Horde outpost in the center-east of the zone, with a flight path, vendors, and quest givers. Key hub for Horde levelers passing through.
Southern Ridges
In the south, mountain ridges hold iron ore nodes and tougher mobs at levels 23–27.
Camp Aparaje (Horde Camp)
Horde stronghold in the northeast. Quests here involve defending against night elf patrols and exploring the mountain passes.

- "Scout the Ridge" — patrol the mountain passes for Horde intelligence.
- "Goblin Forge" — gather materials from goblin traders in the zone.

- Copper Ore — on the western plains (skill 75–100).
- Iron Ore — in the southern mountains (skill 100–150).
- Silver Ore (rare) — small veins in the highland areas.

- Belladonna — valuable ingredient for invisibility potions.
- Stranglekelp — found near water sources.

Tips for the x5 Server
Stonetalon Mountains is one of the best sources of Iron Ore for miners skill 100–150 on WowX5. The southern ridge circuit provides excellent ore density.
For Alliance characters, this is also a key zone before Gnomeregan — level from 20 to 27 here before heading to Wetlands or Desolace.
