The birth of the font
Exiled from Kalimdor, the Highborne under their leaders crossed the sea and founded Quel'Thalas. There, from a vial of water from the Well of Eternity, they created the Sunwell — a new fountain of magical power.
Heart of the high elves
The font fed the magic of the high elves for thousands of years. It sustained their cities, their enchantments and the people's very bond with the arcane. Around it grew a resplendent civilization, and the elven mages became some of the most skilled in the world.
The Scourge invasion
In the Third War, Prince Arthas, a fallen death knight, led the Scourge against Quel'Thalas. He carved a bloody path through the elven lands to the very Sunwell and used its power to raise the necromancer Kel'Thuzad as a mighty lich.
