Splintertree Post: How to Reach the Horde Base in Ashenvale
How to get to Splintertree Post is the question every Horde player faces around level 20, once the Barrens are done and it is time to head north. Splintertree Post is the main Horde base in Ashenvale, a Warsong clan war camp set among the ancient trees of the night elves. Leveling on WoW x5 is fast, so here is the most direct route with no detours.

◆Where Splintertree Post is
The outpost stands in eastern Ashenvale, just north-west of Felfire Hill. The zone covers roughly levels 18 to 30. East of the post lies the Warsong Lumber Camp, and further on the forest ends at the Southfury River and the border of Azshara. How to get there as Horde
Orcs and trolls from Orgrimmar:
- Leave Orgrimmar through the main gate heading south; the way to the capital is covered in how to get to Orgrimmar.
- Cross the bridge over the Southfury River at Far Watch Post and you are in the Barrens.
- Walk to the Crossroads (route in how to get to the Crossroads) and grab the flight path.
- From the Crossroads follow the Gold Road north to the Mor'shan Rampart.
- Keep going along the road into Ashenvale. When the road forks, turn east and it takes you straight to the gates of Splintertree Post.
Tauren fly from Thunder Bluff to the Crossroads and follow the same road. There is also a western option: from the Stonetalon Mountains through the Talondeep Path into southern Ashenvale, but then you have to cross the whole forest past Astranaar. For the Alliance the post is an enemy camp. Night elves enter Ashenvale from Darkshore in the north and base themselves in Astranaar; the route is in how to get to Astranaar. From Astranaar the main road runs east past Raynewood Retreat straight to Splintertree Post. The guards are strong and the wind rider master is a level 55 elite, so do not go there alone. ◆What the outpost offers
- Flight path — wind rider master Vhulgra. In 1.12.1 she flies to Orgrimmar, the Crossroads, Zoram'gar Outpost on the western coast and Valormok in Azshara.
- Inn — Innkeeper Kaylisk. Set your hearthstone here while you level in the forest.
- Services — a heavy armor merchant for repairs, a stable master, a mailbox and an anvil.
- Quests — several Warsong clan quests against night elves, satyrs and demons of the eastern forest.

Around the post you will find quests for levels 20 to 30: the demons of Felfire Hill, the satyrs of Satyrnaar and the defence of the Warsong Lumber Camp.
