How to Get to Warsong Gulch in WoW 1.12.1 (Alliance and Horde)
How to get to Warsong Gulch is a question you can ask as early as level 10: it is the most accessible battleground of classic WoW, where two teams of 10 players fight over a flag. On the WoW x5 server in patch 1.12.1 you queue with a battlemaster in a capital or at an entrance in the open world, so here are both routes for the Alliance and the Horde.

◆Where Warsong Gulch is
Warsong Gulch lies between southern Ashenvale and the northern edge of the Barrens in Kalimdor. It is a separate instanced battleground: Silverwing Hold of the night elf sentinels stands in the north of the gulch, and the orcish Warsong Lumber Mill in the south. Flag mechanics and reputation are covered on the Warsong Gulch wiki page.
Each faction has its own entrance in the open world, with quartermasters and a battlemaster nearby. The level is 10 and up, and the brackets in 1.12.1 are 10–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59 and 60.

How to get there as Alliance
The Alliance entrance is Silverwing Grove in south-central Ashenvale, west of Fallen Sky Lake and south-west of Silverwing Outpost.
- Night elves travel from Darnassus through Rut'theran Village to Auberdine; everyone else takes the boat from Menethil Harbor to Auberdine.
- From Auberdine walk south into Ashenvale, or fly by hippogryph to Astranaar if you have the flight point. The full route is in the guide how to get to Ashenvale.
- From Astranaar follow the road east, then turn south toward Fallen Sky Lake.
- Silverwing Grove lies west of the lake, close to the Barrens border: look for the sentinel camp with a battlemaster and quartermasters.
Be careful at low levels: the area around the grove has many spiders with strong venom, and Horde paths run nearby.

How to get there as Horde
The Horde entrance is at Mor'shan Base Camp at the northern edge of the Barrens, next to the Mor'shan Rampart.
- From Orgrimmar or Thunder Bluff fly by wind rider to the Crossroads. From the Undercity first take the zeppelin to Orgrimmar.
- From the Crossroads follow the road north to the Ashenvale border. Details are in the guide how to get to the Barrens.
- Before the Mor'shan Rampart look for the Warsong orc camp — the gulch entrance is on the mountainside west of it.

◆Battlemasters and the queue
Patch 1.12.1 has no global PvP queue button, so there are two options:
- A battlemaster in a capital city. Each battleground has its own battlemaster, and they are found in every capital of your faction. They usually stand together, and a city guard can show you the way.
- A battlemaster at the entrance. Silverwing Grove and Mor'shan Base Camp each have their own battlemaster.
Once queued, you can keep leveling: the invitation arrives on its own. Participation awards battleground Marks of Honor.
Summary table
| Point | Alliance | Horde |
|---|---|---|
| Entrance | Silverwing Grove, Ashenvale | Mor'shan Base Camp, northern Barrens |
| Nearest flight point | Astranaar | The Crossroads |
| Landmark | Fallen Sky Lake | The Mor'shan Rampart |
| Where to queue | Battlemaster in a capital or in the grove | Battlemaster in a capital or at the camp |
| Brackets | 10–19 … 50–59, 60 | 10–19 … 50–59, 60 |
If you are leveling in the Barrens or Ashenvale, queue at the entrance and keep doing nearby quests while you wait. Keep your Hearthstone bound at an inn close to your leveling zone.
◆Why go to Warsong Gulch
The gulch gives honor and reputation with the Silverwing Sentinels or the Warsong Outriders, which unlocks quartermaster rewards for every bracket. Flag carrier, defense and offense roles and tactics are explained in the Warsong Gulch guide, general rules are in the battleground guide, and the rank system is covered in the PvP honor and rank guide.
