How to Get to Winterspring: Alliance and Horde Routes in Classic
How to get to Winterspring is a common question for players approaching level 53–55: the snowy zone in north-eastern Kalimdor has no road connection to the capitals, and the only land route goes through a furbolg tunnel. Below are step-by-step routes for the Alliance and the Horde, the rules for passing Timbermaw Hold and the flight paths on the WoW x5 server running Vanilla 1.12.1.

◆Where Winterspring is
Winterspring is a snowy mountain zone in north-eastern Kalimdor, east of Felwood and Moonglade. The recommended level is 53–60. In the middle of the zone lies the neutral goblin town of Everlook, run by the Steamwheedle Cartel: an inn, a bank, an auction house, a mailbox and flight masters for both factions.
The key rule: there is only one land entrance to Winterspring — the tunnel of Timbermaw Hold in north-eastern Felwood. Inside the mountain the tunnel forks: one branch leads to Moonglade, the other to Winterspring.
How to get there as Alliance
- Reach Felwood. From Darnassus go down to Rut'theran and take the boat to Auberdine in Darkshore; players from the Eastern Kingdoms sail to Auberdine from Menethil Harbor. Then walk north through Ashenvale.
- Discover the Talonbranch Glade flight path in northern Felwood — the closest Alliance flight point to the tunnel.
- Head north-east to the gates of Timbermaw Hold.
- Go through the tunnel, taking the branch to Winterspring (not to Moonglade).
- Follow the road east to Everlook and discover the flight point at the hippogryph master right away.
How to get there as Horde
- Reach Felwood. From Orgrimmar walk north through the Barrens and Ashenvale, or fly if you already have the flight points.
- Discover the Bloodvenom Post flight path in western Felwood.
- Follow the road to the north-east of the zone, to the gates of Timbermaw Hold.
- Go through the tunnel to the Winterspring exit.
- Discover the Everlook flight point at the wind rider master — your next trip will take a couple of minutes in the air.
Druids can take a shortcut: Teleport: Moonglade brings you to Moonglade, and from there the Timbermaw tunnel leads straight into Winterspring. See how to get to Moonglade for that route.
◆The Timbermaw tunnel: how to pass
The Timbermaw furbolgs guard the tunnel, and they start out hostile to players — the guards attack you at the entrance. To pass in peace, raise your reputation to at least Unfriendly. The easiest way is to kill Deadwood furbolgs in Felwood; in Winterspring the Winterfall furbolgs also give reputation. More in the Timbermaw Hold reputation guide and on the Timbermaw Hold page.
- Entrance — in north-eastern Felwood, at the end of the mountain road.
- Fork inside the tunnel: Moonglade and Winterspring.
- Exit — in western Winterspring; from there the road runs east to Everlook.
- If you die in the tunnel, your spirit is sent to a Felwood graveyard.
| Route | Alliance | Horde |
|---|---|---|
| To Felwood | Boat to Auberdine, walk through Ashenvale | Walk through the Barrens and Ashenvale |
| Felwood flight path | Talonbranch Glade (north) | Bloodvenom Post (west) |
| Into Winterspring | Timbermaw Hold tunnel | Timbermaw Hold tunnel |

◆Why go to Winterspring
Winterspring is one of the final levelling zones and an important spot for level 60 characters:
- Everlook quests all over the map — see the Winterspring leveling guide;
- a neutral town with a bank and an auction house — see the Everlook guide;
- Wintersaber Trainers reputation for the Alliance — see the Wintersaber Trainers reputation guide;
- ore, herbs and runecloth from yetis and furbolgs.
If you are not level 53 yet, first do the Felwood leveling route — the road to Winterspring goes through it anyway.

FAQ
?How do I get to Winterspring for the first time?
On foot through Felwood. The entrance to Timbermaw Hold is in north-eastern Felwood: the furbolg tunnel runs through the mountain and exits in western Winterspring. From there the road leads east to Everlook.
?Do I need Timbermaw reputation to use the tunnel?
The Timbermaw furbolgs start out hostile and attack you in the tunnel. To pass safely, raise your reputation to at least Unfriendly by killing Deadwood furbolgs in Felwood. You can run through earlier, but expect to fight the guards.
?Is there a flight path in Winterspring?
Yes. Everlook has an Alliance hippogryph master and a Horde wind rider master. You must discover the flight point once on foot, after that you can fly there directly.
?What level is Winterspring?
Winterspring is roughly a level 53–60 zone. Felwood, which you cross on the way, is roughly 48–55, so it is best to head into the tunnel around level 50.
