How to Get to the Darkmoon Faire: Goldshire and Mulgore Routes
How to get to the Darkmoon Faire is a question that comes up once a month, when Silas Darkmoon's travelling carnival pitches its tents. In Vanilla 1.12.1 the Faire has only two sites, Elwynn Forest and Mulgore, and on the WoW x5 server you can reach either of them at any level. Below you will find where to look for the tents, step-by-step Alliance and Horde routes, and what to do once you arrive.

◆Where the Darkmoon Faire is located
In patch 1.12.1 the Faire alternates between two sites:
- Elwynn Forest, Eastern Kingdoms — just south of Goldshire, a few minutes on foot from Stormwind.
- Mulgore, Kalimdor — at the foot of Thunder Bluff, the tauren capital.
The Faire arrives roughly once a month and stays for about a week, then packs up and sets up at the other site next time. The exact schedule on WoW x5 is set by the server, so check the news for the current dates and location. There is no level requirement: the Faire is neutral and its staff serve both factions. Darkmoon Island, its portals and the Terokkar site do not exist in 1.12.1 — they belong to later versions of the game.

◆Getting there as Alliance
If the Faire is in Elwynn Forest:
- Leave Stormwind through the main gate and follow the road south to Goldshire — see how to get to Elwynn Forest.
- At the Goldshire crossroads head south — the Faire tents are visible from the road.
- From Ironforge take the Deeprun Tram to Stormwind first; from Darnassus sail from Rut'theran to Auberdine, then to Menethil Harbor and travel through Ironforge.
If the Faire is in Mulgore:
- Take the ship from Booty Bay to Ratchet — the route is covered in how to get to Ratchet.
- From Ratchet head west across the Barrens past the Crossroads, then south to Camp Taurajo — both are Horde towns, so skirt around them.
- From Camp Taurajo a road leads west into Mulgore; from there head north toward Thunder Bluff.
◆Getting there as Horde
If the Faire is in Mulgore:
- Fly from Orgrimmar to the Thunder Bluff flight master — see how to get to Thunder Bluff.
- Ride the elevator down from the mesa; the Faire stands at the foot of the capital.
- On foot: Durotar → the Barrens → the Crossroads → Camp Taurajo → west into Mulgore, as described in how to get to Mulgore.
If the Faire is in Elwynn Forest:
- Take the zeppelin from Orgrimmar to Grom'gol in Stranglethorn Vale.
- Travel north through Stranglethorn and Duskwood to the Elwynn Forest border.
- Head west to Goldshire. This is Alliance territory with guards, so on a PvP realm travel in a group.

◆Finding your way around the Faire
The Faire is a bright camp of striped tents and Darkmoon banners that is hard to miss. Key landmarks:
- Silas Darkmoon — the proprietor, guarded by his ogre bodyguard Burth.
- Gelvas Grimegate — exchanges prize tickets for rewards.
- Sayge — the fortune teller who grants a temporary fortune buff; read more in Sayge's Dark Fortune.
- Turn-in NPCs: Yebb Neblegear takes beast parts, Kerri Hicks takes blacksmithing goods, Rinling takes engineering goods and Chronos takes leatherworking goods.
Bind your Hearthstone to the nearest inn, in Goldshire or Thunder Bluff. That way you will not have to walk back after the Faire.
Route table
| Site | Alliance | Horde |

| Mulgore | Ship to Ratchet → Barrens → Camp Taurajo → Mulgore | Fly to Thunder Bluff → elevator down |
| Flight network | Stormwind, no flight point in Goldshire | Thunder Bluff |
| Safety | Home territory in Elwynn | Home territory in Mulgore |
◆Why visit the Faire
The Faire's main currency is the Darkmoon Faire Prize Ticket. Tickets are awarded for turning in materials; the available turn-ins depend on your level and Faire reputation, and the level 40+ turn-ins are unlimited. Tickets buy prizes, and at level 60 a stack of 1200 tickets buys the Orb of the Darkmoon or the Amulet of the Darkmoon.
The second reason to go is Darkmoon Card decks: a completed deck is handed in at the Faire for an epic trinket. For an overview of the event see the Darkmoon Faire wiki page, and for the calendar see seasonal and world events.
