How to Get to The Hinterlands
The Hinterlands is a forested highland in the Eastern Kingdoms for level 40-50 players. It has two camps: Aerie Peak for the Wildhammer dwarves (Alliance) and Revantusk Village for the forest trolls (Horde). The zone is known for reputation quests, the ruins of Jintha'Alor and the green dragon Seradane. There is no direct flight from the capitals, so the first visit needs an overland route.
◆Where The Hinterlands is
The zone lies northeast of Hillsbrad Foothills, in a mountain forest. The only convenient land passage in leads from the west, through Hillsbrad.

How to get there
Overland (both factions) through Hillsbrad Foothills:
- Reach Hillsbrad (Alliance from Southshore, Horde from Tarren Mill).
- Head northeast along the road through the mountain pass near Durnholde.
- The road climbs straight into The Hinterlands.
By flight:
- Alliance: open the Aerie Peak flight path — it connects to the Stormwind and Ironforge network.
- Horde: the Revantusk flight path unlocks after the intro quests for the forest trolls on the southeast coast.
◆What to do in The Hinterlands
- Reputation with the Revantusk tribe (Horde).
- Clear the troll ruins of Jintha'Alor — quest chains.
- Hunt the green dragon Seradane (Emerald Dream).
- Quests at Quel'Danil Lodge (Alliance).

Tip: on x5 the zone clears quickly, but stay away from the enemy camp — The Hinterlands is contested and sees a lot of world PvP. For more see the Hinterlands knowledge base page and the Alliance leveling route / Horde route.
Stick to the roads: The Hinterlands has steep elevation changes and you often cannot cut straight through the mountains. The road from Hillsbrad climbs in switchbacks — follow it rather than a straight line to your goal, or you will hit impassable slopes.
