How to Reach Astranaar in WoW Classic
How to get to Astranaar is a question every Alliance character asks once Darkshore is done and it is time to head south. Astranaar is the main night elf town in Ashenvale: a flight path, an inn and most of the zone's quests for roughly levels 18 to 30. On the WoW x5 server you will get there quickly — below is a detailed route for both factions.

◆Where Is Astranaar
Astranaar lies in central Ashenvale, in northern Kalimdor. It is the largest settlement in the zone: the town stands on an island in a lake, and two bridges carrying the main forest road connect it to the shore. From here roads lead northwest to Darkshore, west to the Zoram Strand, and east and south toward the Barrens. Ashenvale is contested territory, so expect to meet Horde players on the roads. How to Get There as Alliance
Night elves — from Darnassus:
- From Darnassus, take the portal down to Rut'theran Village at the foot of Teldrassil.
- Fly by hippogryph or sail to Auberdine. Details are in how to get to Auberdine.
- From Auberdine follow the road south through the whole of Darkshore.
- At the zone border stands Maestra's Post, the first sentinel camp in Ashenvale.
- The road continues southeast and crosses a bridge straight into Astranaar. Learn the flight path.
Humans, dwarves and gnomes: travel to Menethil Harbor in the Wetlands and take the ship to Auberdine, then follow the same road south. How to reach the harbor and Darkshore is described in how to get to Darkshore.
After your first visit a hippogryph flies from Auberdine to Astranaar — no more walking.

For the Horde, Astranaar is an enemy town with elite guards, and there is no reason to go inside. Horde players enter Ashenvale from the south: from the Crossroads (route in how to get to the Crossroads) north along the Gold Road past the Mor'shan Rampart. The road enters the forest southeast of Astranaar — turn east toward Splintertree Post, which has a Horde flight path. The second Horde base is Zoram'gar Outpost on the western coast. Sentinels patrol the roads around Astranaar, and on a PvP realm Alliance players often camp the bridges.
◆What Is in Astranaar
- Flight path — Daelyshia, the hippogryph master, at the north tip of the island right by the road.
- Inn — Innkeeper Kimlya. Set your Hearthstone here: it is a convenient base for quests all over the zone.
- Quests — Raene Wolfrunner gives Culling the Threat against the Thistlefur furbolgs, Shindrell Swiftfire gives The Zoram Strand against the naga, and Pelturas Whitemoon has his own chains.
- Services — vendors, a stable master, a mailbox, a leatherworking trainer; the graveyard is on the lake shore north of town.
