How to Reach Darkshire in Duskwood (WoW 1.12.1)
How to get to Darkshire is the first question every Alliance player asks on reaching Duskwood: this small town holds almost all of the zone's quests and its only flight path. Darkshire is a village wrapped in endless night that defends itself against undead and worgen on its own. Below are all routes for both factions on the WoW x5 server (Vanilla 1.12.1).

◆Where Darkshire is located
Darkshire stands in the east of Duskwood, in the south of the Eastern Kingdoms. It is the main (and in 1.12 the only) Alliance foothold in the forest: town hall, tavern, smithy, vendors and a flight path. Its quests are aimed at roughly levels 20 to 30, and the full quest order is in the Duskwood leveling guide.
Landmarks around the town:
- to the north runs the road to Three Corners in Redridge Mountains;
- to the east the road continues to Deadwind Pass;
- to the west the main road crosses the forest to Raven Hill and the bridge into Westfall;
- next to the town lie Tranquil Gardens Cemetery and The Yorgen Farmstead.

How to get to Darkshire as Alliance
The flight path only opens after your first visit, so the first trip is on foot. The most reliable walking route goes through Redridge.
- Leave Stormwind into Elwynn Forest and follow the road east past Goldshire.
- Keep heading east to Three Corners on the western edge of Redridge; details are in the guide how to get to Redridge Mountains.
- At Three Corners turn south and cross the bridge: the road enters Duskwood right next to Darkshire.
- Speak to Gryphon Master Felicia Maline; from now on you can fly here from Stormwind.
Alternatives: from Sentinel Hill in Westfall a road leads east over a bridge to Raven Hill and then across the whole forest to the east. You can also simply swim across the river on Elwynn's southern border. Dwarves and gnomes first reach Stormwind on the Deeprun Tram, night elves sail via Auberdine and Menethil Harbor. The general zone route is in how to get to Duskwood.
How to get to Darkshire as Horde
For the Horde, Darkshire is a hostile town, worth visiting mainly for world PvP. The route:
- Take the zeppelin from Orgrimmar or Undercity to Grom'gol Base Camp; see how to get to Stranglethorn Vale.
- Follow the main road north across the bridge over the gorge into Duskwood.
- At the junction keep to the road east; it leads straight to Darkshire.
Remember that the town is protected by Alliance guards, and attacking its quest givers flags you for PvP. If your real destination is Deadwind Pass, skirt Darkshire through the woods.
◆What you will find in Darkshire
- Flight path: Gryphon Master Felicia Maline. In 1.12 there are no other flight points in Duskwood (Raven Hill and Goldshire flights only arrived in Cataclysm).
- Inn: the Scarlet Raven Tavern with Innkeeper Trelayne, a convenient place to set your Hearthstone.
- Town hall: the town's quest givers, including Lord Ello Ebonlocke and Commander Althea Ebonlocke, who send you after undead and worgen.
- Smithy and shops: weapon, armor and general goods vendors plus profession trainers.

Routes to Darkshire: summary table
| Route | Alliance | Horde |
|---|---|---|
| Start | Stormwind | Orgrimmar or Undercity |
| Transport | Gryphon to Darkshire (once discovered) | Zeppelin to Grom'gol Base Camp |
| On foot | Elwynn, Three Corners, bridge south | Northern Stranglethorn, bridge over the gorge |
| Danger | Low | Alliance guards in town |
Bind your Hearthstone at the tavern: most of the zone's quests are turned in here, and the Hearthstone recharges in one hour.
◆What to do around Darkshire
The famous storyline covered in the Stalvan quest chain guide starts here, along with quests against the undead of the cemeteries and the worgen of the nearby farms. To the east begins Deadwind Pass with the tower of Karazhan, and at level 60 one of the Dragons of Nightmare can appear in Twilight Grove. To move quickly between the southern zones, check the flight paths guide and the travel guide.
