How to Reach Dustwallow Marsh as Alliance and Horde
How to get to Dustwallow Marsh is a common question around level 35: this swamp on the east coast of Kalimdor is home to Theramore, the Stonemaul ogres and Onyxia's Lair. Below are the Alliance and Horde routes, the boat, landmarks and flight paths for the WoW x5 server on Vanilla 1.12.1.

◆Where Dustwallow Marsh is
Dustwallow Marsh is a tropical swamp on the eastern coast of Kalimdor, south-east of the Barrens. The recommended level is 35–45. The marsh curls around a bay where the fortress of Theramore Isle stands on a rocky island — the main Alliance stronghold in the zone.
Faction outposts:
- Theramore Isle — the Alliance city with a harbour and a flight path, in the east of the zone.
- Brackenwall Village — the village of the Stonemaul ogres, allies of the Horde, in the north-west of the marsh. It is the only Horde base in the zone and has a flight master.
- Ruins of the Shady Rest Inn — a landmark on the western edge of the zone, next to the road to the Barrens.
Alliance route
Option 1 — the boat (most convenient):
- Travel to Menethil Harbor in the Wetlands — the route is described in the Menethil Harbor guide.
- Wait on the dock for the ship to Theramore.
- The ship docks right in Theramore's harbour. Pick up the flight path from the flight master in town.
Option 2 — on foot from Kalimdor:
- Make your way to the Barrens and follow the road south-east to the marsh border.
- The road enters Dustwallow Marsh from the west at the ruins of the Shady Rest Inn.
- Follow it east across the marsh to the gates of Theramore.
Horde route
- Fly to the Crossroads in the Barrens.
- Head south-east to the western edge of Dustwallow Marsh.
- Enter the marsh at the ruins of the Shady Rest Inn and turn north-east towards Brackenwall Village.
- Grab the flight path in the village: your next trip will take a couple of minutes.
The road east from the Shady Rest leads to Theramore, whose guards attack Horde players. Turn off towards Brackenwall early. Every route is mapped in the flight paths guide.
Entrances and things to know
- There is only one land entrance — from the west, out of the Barrens. In 1.12.1 there is no trail to Thousand Needles or Tanaris: it only appeared in later expansions together with the goblin town in the south of the zone.
- The sea entrance — the Menethil Harbor to Theramore boat. It is the Alliance's direct link between the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor.
- Onyxia's Lair — a cave in the south of the zone, in the Wyrmbog, home of the black dragonflight. Without the key amulet (Drakefire Amulet) you cannot enter the raid; details are in how to get to Onyxia's Lair.
- Dangers: crocolisks and naga along the coast, black dragons in the Wyrmbog, and high-level naga on Alcaz Island off the coast — do not swim there without a group.

?How do Alliance players get to Dustwallow Marsh?
The easiest way is the boat from Menethil Harbor in the Wetlands: it docks right in the port of Theramore Isle. From Kalimdor you can also walk through the Barrens — the road enters the marsh from the west at the ruins of the Shady Rest Inn.
?How do Horde players get to Dustwallow Marsh?
On foot from the Barrens: head south-east from the Crossroads to the western edge of the marsh, then on to Brackenwall Village in the north-west of the zone. It has a Horde flight master — grab the flight path and fly in next time.
?Can I enter Dustwallow Marsh from Thousand Needles or Tanaris?
No. In 1.12.1 the only land entrance to the marsh is from the Barrens. The southern trail to Thousand Needles was only added in later expansions.
?Where is the Onyxia's Lair entrance in Dustwallow Marsh?
In the south of the zone, in the Wyrmbog. To enter the raid you need the key amulet awarded at the end of the Onyxia attunement chain.
