How to Reach Thunder Bluff in WoW 1.12.1
How to get to Thunder Bluff is a question for every Horde player who needs druid and shaman trainers, the tauren auction house or simply a new flight path in western Kalimdor. Thunder Bluff is the tauren capital, built on tall mesas above the green plains of Mulgore. There is no zeppelin here in 1.12, so below are the overland routes for every Horde race, the lifts and the risky Alliance path on the WoW x5 server (Vanilla 1.12.1).

◆Where Thunder Bluff Is
Thunder Bluff stands in northern Mulgore, in western Kalimdor. The city consists of a central mesa and three neighboring rises: Elder Rise, Spirit Rise and Hunter Rise. They are linked by rope bridges, and the only way up from the plains is by lift. To the south lie Bloodhoof Village and the starting Camp Narache on Red Cloud Mesa. Mulgore is a level 1-10 zone, and the city itself is safe for the Horde. History and the tauren chieftains are covered in the Thunder Bluff article.

How to Get to Thunder Bluff as Horde
Tauren. The journey starts at Camp Narache:
- From Camp Narache follow the road north down from Red Cloud Mesa.
- The road leads to Bloodhoof Village - a good place to turn in quests and rest.
- Keep following the main road north to the foot of the cliffs.
- Ride a lift up to the central mesa and discover the flight path.
Orcs and trolls (from Orgrimmar):
- Leave Orgrimmar and head west to the bridge over the Southfury River at Far Watch Post.
- In the Barrens follow the road west to the Crossroads and discover its flight path.
- From the Crossroads turn south and walk to Camp Taurajo.
- West of the camp begins the pass into Mulgore - go through it.
- The road leads north past Bloodhoof Village to the Thunder Bluff lifts.
Undead (from Undercity): take the zeppelin to Orgrimmar from Tirisfal Glades, then follow the route above. More about the zeppelin towers is in how to get to Tirisfal Glades.
Note: there is no Orgrimmar to Thunder Bluff zeppelin in 1.12 - it only arrived with Wrath of the Lich King. Until you discover the city's flight path on foot, you cannot fly there. Tauren druids speed up the trip in Travel Form from level 30.
How to Get to Thunder Bluff as Alliance
To be honest: Thunder Bluff is a Horde capital deep behind enemy lines. Guards in the city, Bloodhoof Village and Camp Taurajo attack on sight, and there is nowhere to hide on the lifts and bridges. A raid like this only makes sense at a high level and in a group.
- Fly to Booty Bay and take the ship to Ratchet. The port's flight path is available to both factions.
- From Ratchet head west across the Barrens, giving the Crossroads a wide berth, toward Camp Taurajo.
- Skirt around the camp and enter the pass into Mulgore.
- Head north past Bloodhoof Village to the foot of the cliffs.
The port is described in the Ratchet guide.
Where the City Entrances Are
- Lifts - the only way up from the plains. They stand on the southwestern side, where the main road from Mulgore arrives, and on the northeastern side. Both take you to the central mesa.
- Bridges link the central mesa with Elder Rise, Spirit Rise and Hunter Rise.
- The wind rider master sits at the top of the large totem in the city center.
- The inn, bank and auction house are on the central mesa. Districts and trainers are covered in the Thunder Bluff city guide.
The mesa edges have no railings, and a fall from the cliffs usually ends in death - do not take shortcuts by jumping.

Routes to Thunder Bluff: Summary Table
| From | How to get there | Transport |

| Camp Narache | North through Bloodhoof Village | On foot |
| Orgrimmar | Crossroads, Camp Taurajo, pass into Mulgore | On foot, later wind rider |

| Booty Bay (Alliance) | Ship to Ratchet, Barrens avoiding camps | Dangerous, deep in Horde land |
◆Hearthstone and Binding
If you are staying in Mulgore for a while, bind your Hearthstone at the innkeeper in Thunder Bluff. Tauren below level 10 are better off keeping their home in Bloodhoof Village. Ways to save time on the road are explained in Hearthstone and travel.
◆Why Go to Thunder Bluff
For tauren this is the home city: the first levels are spent in Mulgore, and the quest order is collected in the Mulgore leveling guide. Other Horde players should come for the druid and shaman trainers, the auction house and a flight path in western Kalimdor. The nearest zones for leveling are the Barrens and Stonetalon Mountains - the way there is described in how to get to Stonetalon Mountains. To shorten your trips later, read the flight paths guide and the world travel guide.
