How to Reach Silverpine Forest in WoW 1.12.1

Section: World & travel 5 min read Vanilla 1.12.1 · x5 Updated 10.10.2026

How to get to Silverpine Forest is a question Forsaken players face right after Tirisfal Glades, and Alliance players face when their group heads for Shadowfang Keep. Silverpine Forest is a gloomy pine forest in western Lordaeron ruled by the Forsaken. Here are the routes for both factions on the WoW x5 server (Vanilla 1.12.1).

Where Silverpine Forest Is

Silverpine Forest runs along the western coast of Lordaeron in the Eastern Kingdoms. To the north it borders Tirisfal Glades, to the southeast the Hillsbrad Foothills, and in the east Lordamere Lake separates it from the Alterac Mountains. In the south the forest ends at the Greymane Wall, which seals off Gilneas - there is no way through in 1.12. The recommended level is 10-20. More on the subzones is in the Silverpine Forest article.

Key landmarks: the Horde's Sepulcher in the west, the Dalaran wizards' Ambermill in the southeast, cursed Pyrewood Village and Shadowfang Keep in the south, and Fenris Isle out on the lake.

How to Get to Silverpine Forest as Horde

For the Forsaken this is the neighboring zone, and the walk takes only a few minutes.

  1. Leave Undercity and go to the crossroads at the Ruins of Lordaeron.
  2. Head west following the signs towards Silverpine Forest.
  3. The road turns south into the forest. Follow it until you see a signposted turn to the west towards the Sepulcher.
  4. At the Sepulcher, discover the flight path and set your hearthstone at the inn.

There is also a shortcut: you can swim across Lordamere Lake from the shore behind Undercity. For orcs, trolls and tauren the trip starts with the zeppelin from Orgrimmar to Undercity - the towers stand between Brill and Undercity. From the Sepulcher, bats fly to Undercity and Tarren Mill.

How to Get to Silverpine Forest as Alliance

For the Alliance this is enemy territory with no flight path of its own, so most visits are for Shadowfang Keep.

  1. Get to Southshore in the Hillsbrad Foothills. If you have not discovered its flight path yet, walk from the Wetlands across the Thandol Span into the Arathi Highlands and then west.
  2. From Southshore, run north to the main road.
  3. Turn left, to the west, and follow the road all the way into Silverpine Forest.
  4. The road brings you into the southern part of the forest - right to Pyrewood Village and Shadowfang Keep.

Avoid the northern forest and the Sepulcher: Horde guards stand there and Horde patrols walk the roads.

Where the Entrances Are and What to Watch For

  • Shadowfang Keep stands on the hill above Pyrewood Village in the south of the zone. The full route is in how to get to Shadowfang Keep.
  • Pyrewood Village is an elite area: by day the villagers look human and are friendly to the Alliance, but at night they turn into worgen and attack everyone.
  • Fenris Isle on Lordamere Lake is held by gnolls - do not swim there without a quest.
  • Swimming east across the lake takes you to the Alterac Mountains, but that is a level 30+ zone.

Silverpine has a limited number of quests, so many Forsaken take the zeppelin to the Barrens before they finish the zone. Before you leave, be sure to pick up the Archmage Arugal quest chain - it leads into Shadowfang Keep.

Why Go to Silverpine Forest

For the Horde this is the second leveling zone after Tirisfal: Sepulcher quests, gnolls, undead and worgen. The quest order is in the Silverpine Forest leveling guide, and dungeon tactics are in the Shadowfang Keep guide. Next comes the Hillsbrad Foothills - see how to get to Hillsbrad Foothills. To save time on the road, read the flight paths guide and the world travel guide.
